Most of us were told to ‘stand up straight and pull your shoulders back .
The problem?
Many people end up with shoulders and chest too far back. When you stand or walk like this, your eyes naturally point above the horizon, and then you have to pull your head and eyes down again to see where you’re going – which puts extra strain on the back of the neck.
In the clinic I often:
•use Bowen to treat both the neck and shoulders together (they’re linked), and
•adjust your standing and walking posture so your body is lined up and your eyes can rest naturally on the horizon without extra effort.
Clients usually feel their neck relax and breathing improve when we get this right.
If your neck feels tired or strained when you stand or walk, this may be part of the reason.
