Scams can affect anyone, but knowledge and awareness help keep our communities safe. During Scams Awareness Week, from 24 to 28 August 2026, we support Services Australia’s call for everyone to become educated, alert and informed. Take time to recognise the warning signs, question unexpected contact and talk openly with family and friends. We all have a responsibility to protect one another, particularly older Australians and people who may be more vulnerable to online scams.

This Scams Awareness Week, it’s important to remember that no one’s just a number. That’s why we’re encouraging you to talk about scams, learn from each other and help make sure no one feels unsafe.
We’re also working to help protect people from scams by sharing warnings, advice and support for anyone affected by scams or identity theft.
If something doesn’t feel right, remember: Stop. Check. Protect. Report.
