What does a Supported Independent Living (SIL) actually provide?

SIL funding is for a support worker to help or supervise you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You may share a support worker or have an individual support worker, depending on how much help you need. The support worker will help or supervise day-to-day tasks within your home.

These can include:
🔵Support with personal care: Showering, toileting, grooming, dressing etc
🔵Support building skills: Starting small to help build skills like cooking, cleaning skills tidying as you go, building independence with using checklists and reminders.
🔵Support carrying out behaviour plans: Following agreed methods in the behaviour support plan. Look for early warning signs to step in and support. Respond calmly and safely in line with the plan.
🔵Support developing social skills: Practice chats together. Build sharing-space skills. Learn conflict resolution steps.
🔵 Support with supervision, personal safety and security: Regular check-ins especially when you're stressed. Help using spaces like the kitchen and garden safely. Help managing visitors so you're in control.
🔵 Support with medication: Reminders and helping set a routine for taking medication. Help explaining things to doctors and pharmacists. Preparation for medical appointments and support with transport and timing.
🔵Support with household budgeting and paying bills: Plan weekly budget. Go through bills in plan language. Set simple money habits like reminders and check ins, with you making the choices.
🔵Supporting community access: Plan new outings together. Provide support during the task like forms, check-ins, and staying calm in busy spaces. Finish safely, keep track of belongings, travel home, talk about what worked.

Is your SIL provider registered? We are! Mandatory registration for SIL and platform providers and new SIL Practice Standards started 1 July 2026.

Having done our registeration already means our clients won't experience any changes or disruptions, and we are already complying with the NDIS regulations. 💙

If you're looking for supported accommodation get in touch today!

Are you a footy fan? Our clients are! We offer tailored community access for them to see their favourite team play. Unfortunately the Cowboys didn’t win but it was still a great game and good crowd that our clients enjoyed being part of!
