A wonderful evening on Friday night meeting Glenn Boss at the Mental Wellbeing Night hosted by Southside Racing in Pakenham.

It was a privilege to be part of a conversation focused on mental health, the importance of maintaining positive mental wellbeing, where to seek support, and why events like this matter so much for individuals, families, and communities.

Mental health touches all of us, and creating spaces where people can talk openly, learn, and feel supported can make a real difference. Events like this help reduce stigma, encourage connection, and remind people that support is available.

Thank you to Southside Racing for hosting such an important night and for helping bring mental health into the conversation in such a meaningful way.

Can you support Mason with and walk and talk for Mental Health tomorrow in Stratford?

🚶‍♂️ When a Year 9 student takes the lead on mental health awareness, it’s something worth getting behind. 💙 This Saturday, Mason is helping lead the Walk & Talk for Mental Health alongside his dad Cal (Class of 2003), bringing hundreds of people together for a day focused on connection, conversation and community support.

Now in its fourth year, the event begins at Pine Lodge in Stratford at 8am, with participants walking the 20km route to the Briagolong Recreation Reserve. Water stations will be available along the way, along with a support bus for those who would like to complete part of the walk.

For Mason, the most powerful part of the day is seeing people come together: "When you rock up to Pine Lodge and see all the people showing up, everyone just gets around each other on the walk. It’s really great to get together and for people to talk about their stories."

After the walk, the community is invited to stay for a relaxed afternoon at the Briagolong Recreation Reserve featuring live music, kids entertainment, food trucks, raffles and a sausage sizzle, along with the moving tradition of “laying down the boots” to remember men and boys who have lost their lives to su***de.

More than 200 people have already registered, with many more expected on the day after more than 500 people took part last year. I’m presenting a FREE Mental Health and Depression Workshop in Pakenham on 26th May.
This workshop is for anyone who is living with depression, struggling with mental health, or simply wanting some practical guidance and support.
Together, we’ll explore helpful tips and suggestions that can support you in living a better, more manageable life while dealing with depression and mental health challenges.
My hope is that people walk away feeling a little more informed, encouraged, and supported.

There’s something powerful about coming together with people who truly understand the work you do.

Connecting with fellow counsellors across regional Victoria reminds me that none of us are doing this alone. In the quiet spaces, the small towns, and the communities often overlooked, there’s a shared commitment to showing up, listening deeply, and making a difference where it’s needed most.

These connections matter. They strengthen us, support us, and ultimately allow us to better support others.

Because when we collaborate, share knowledge, and lift each other up, we expand what’s possible for mental health care in remote areas. More access. More understanding. More lives impacted in meaningful ways.

This Easter, I’ve been reflecting on a piece I recently brought into the MC Counselling space from the Deniliquin Easter Art Show “Stairway to the Moon.”

There’s something quietly powerful about it. A sense of movement, of ascent, of hope — even when the path isn’t fully clear. It feels like a reminder that healing, growth, and understanding often happen step by step, not all at once.

At MC Counselling, Easter is a time that resonates with themes of renewal, reflection, and the possibility of new beginnings. Just like the stairway in the artwork, each person’s journey is unique — sometimes steady, sometimes uncertain — but always moving forward.

Wherever you find yourself this Easter, may you feel a sense of hope, direction, and gentle progress on your own path.
