Horses model some wonderful behaviors for us to follow when we learn to listen and walk their path. Horses live in a constant state of awareness that has enabled them to survive for millions of years. They always notice what is happening in their environment, what is happening with their feelings and their bodies. Horses have an amazing ability to release stress and a truly unique capacity to share their empathy with humans. They never judge, they are completely honest and are our much-loved assistants in the healing process. They are great listeners too. No previous horse experience is required, just an open mind and a willingness to encounter a new way of allowing yourself to feel. You may be invited to meet the whole herd, take time groom one, participate in controlled lead work, perhaps a mounted experience or just share space with one of the herd that you feel drawn to. What we do

We offer general Psychotherapy and Counselling and Also Equine Psychotherapy and learning. Our clients are invited to take part in safe activities with the horses and then if they wish, process their experience, feelings and thoughts. Many of the experiences people have with our herd relates readily to life situations and can offer the opportunity to explore how we are in our relationships with others or how we are coping with life’s challenges. We will also demonstrate techniques that help people be calm and regain control. We focus entirely on supporting individuals and their needs in private sessions. We also assist various organisations to build stronger relationships through improved understanding, communication, and leadership. Maintaining our clients physical and emotional safety and that of our herd is our priority always. We also offer extended programs which are a comprehensive and will take individuals or groups through Awareness, Boundaries, Feelings, Thoughts and Facing Challenges. Courage & Growth 💛🐴

On our 10th Anniversary, we witnessed a truly beautiful moment of courage, trust and growth.

This lovely young lady showed just how brave she is when she climbed aboard our beautiful Cruise. And, as always, Cruise proved why he is such a special part of the Path of the Horse herd. 💙

The perfect gentleman, he seemed to know exactly what was needed — calm, patient and gentle, giving her the confidence and reassurance to take this very special step in her journey.

Sometimes growth comes from taking one brave step outside your comfort zone, and with the right support beside you, that step can become a moment you’ll never forget.

So proud of this beautiful achievement — and so proud of Cruise for simply knowing. 🐴💙✨

🐴 FEEL GOOD FRIDAY – BEAR’S AT IT AGAIN! 😂

Bear has once again managed to find the absolute best scratching spot… and judging by the look of things, he’s enjoying it a little too much! 🤣🐴

Geez Bear… at this rate we might have to start putting ratings on your posts — PG or R? 😂🙈

No shame, no dignity… just one very happy Bear getting that itch in just the right spot!

Massive improvements are underway at Path of the Horse.

Thanks to the Victorian Department of Families and Fairness via the awesome Victorian Veterans Council, we received a wonderful Grant to improve the amenities and safety of our facilities at Path of the Horse - Psychotherapy & Counselling.

Importantly, the work has been allocated to I Can Fix That which is a veteran owned and operated business run by John John Giampino.

John has engaged other veterans to help him too. My old mate and Afghanistan Infantry Veteran, Dave Hill, thanks to you too brother.

My gratitude is boundless.

There is a phrase many of us hear when life becomes overwhelming:

“This too will pass.”

While those words are often offered with kindness, they can sometimes leave a person feeling unseen.

When someone is experiencing overwhelming distress, knowing that things might improve one day doesn’t always help them get through today.

What many people need is practical support. Someone to listen without judgement. A safe place to regain their footing. Tools to help regulate their emotions. Opportunities to reconnect with hope, purpose and the strengths they may have lost sight of.

For some people, animal-assisted services can provide that bridge.

The calm presence of an animal can help create a sense of safety when words are hard to find. Through guided interactions with qualified practitioners, people can develop coping strategies, rebuild confidence, improve emotional regulation and begin taking small, meaningful steps forward.

Hope isn’t just believing tomorrow will be better.

Hope grows when people are supported to navigate today.

If you or someone you know is experiencing situational distress, remember that you don’t have to face it alone. Reaching out for support is a sign of strength, and the right support can make all the difference.
