Supporting clients with eating disorders can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also feel complex, isolating, and at times overwhelming, especially when you’re early in your career or navigating challenging presentations.

That’s where quality clinical supervision can make all the difference.

Liana Johnstone provides clinical supervision for dietitians seeking support, confidence, and clarity in their eating disorder work.

Having spent the past five years working exclusively within private practice eating disorder services, Liana brings practical, real-world experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults across a broad range of eating disorder presentations.

As Dietitian Team Leader at Myrtle Oak Clinic, she understands the day-to-day challenges clinicians face and creates a supportive space for reflection, learning, and professional growth.

Areas Liana can support include:
🌿 ARFID and selective eating presentations
🌿 Paediatric and adolescent eating disorders
🌿 Family involvement in treatment
🌿 Multidisciplinary care coordination
🌿 Medical management and escalation pathways
🌿 Treatment planning and session frequency recommendations
🌿 Discharge planning and transitions of care
🌿 Professional boundaries and scope of practice
🌿 Neurodiversity-affirming care
🌿 LGBTQIA+ inclusive care
🌿 New graduate and early career dietitian support

Liana’s supervision style is practical, collaborative, reflective, and grounded in the realities of clinical practice. Her goal is to help dietitians strengthen their clinical reasoning, build confidence in decision-making, and develop sustainable ways of working in this important area of practice.

If you’re looking for a supervisor who understands the realities of eating disorder work and can provide both support and clinical guidance, we’d love to hear from you.

Dietitians Week 2026 💜🧩💜
This week our team celebrated the theme Collective Impact with a reflective activity that turned out to be incredibly special.

Each team member decorated their own puzzle piece and reflected on the impact they make as a dietitian supporting people within our community. When we joined all the pieces together, it created one larger picture representing the power of collective impact across our team.

It was such a great reminder that every interaction matters. Every client conversation, family support, meal support strategy, report, education session and moment of encouragement contributes to improving someone’s health, wellbeing and daily functioning.

One thing I continue to hear from dietitians is that many feel undervalued or under-utilised in the healthcare system. Yet the work happening across our profession every single day is making a tremendous difference to people’s lives.

Let’s keep sharing that impact more widely.
More conversations.
More advocacy.
More visibility.
More leadership.
Because many people still do not fully understand the breadth of what dietitians do and the outcomes we can help achieve.
Happy Dietitians Week to all the incredible dietitians making a difference in their communities 💜🧩💜

When we think about mental health, it is common to focus on thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. Food and nutrition are often overlooked, yet they play a meaningful role in how we feel day to day.

If you have ever noticed feeling more irritable when you have not eaten, struggling to concentrate when meals are missed, or feeling flat when your intake has been low, you have already experienced the connection.

At Myrtle Oak Clinic, we support people to understand this relationship in a practical, compassionate way. Nutrition is not about perfection or strict rules. It is about giving your body and brain the consistent support they need to function, cope, and recover.

When anxiety is high or mood feels low, eating can become one of the first things to shift. You might skip meals without noticing, lose your appetite, feel overwhelmed by food choices, or find your eating pattern becomes irregular.

Over time, this can leave you feeling even more depleted, more anxious, and less able to cope.

At Myrtle Oak Clinic, we often support people who feel caught in this cycle. The connection between how you eat and how you feel is powerful, and one of the most helpful starting points is something simple, structured, and achievable. Routine eating.

Low energy can feel confusing.
You might wonder if it’s stress, burnout, your eating patterns, your mental health… or all of it at once.

For many people, it is all connected.
When energy is low, everything feels harder.

Thinking clearly. Showing up to work. Socialising. Even simple daily tasks.

And when eating becomes irregular, restricted, or unstructured, it can amplify that feeling even more.
At Myrtle Oak Clinic, we often support people who feel stuck in this cycle, unsure where to begin.

Starting doesn’t need to be overwhelming.
It might look like:
• Eating regularly, even without hunger cues
• Creating a gentle daily structure
• Understanding how your mental health and nutrition interact
• Having the right support around you

You deserve to feel like yourself again. With more clarity, energy, and capacity for the things that matter.
If this resonates, our team is here to support you

Feeling constantly low on energy can be frustrating, confusing, and at times, overwhelming. It can show up as physical fatigue, mental fog, lack of motivation, or a sense that even simple tasks feel harder than they should. For many people, this experience sits at the intersection of both physical and mental health, and it is not always clear where to begin.

At Myrtle Oak Clinic, we often meet people who feel stuck in this space. They know something is not quite right, yet they are unsure whether it is related to nutrition, mental health, or both.

The answer is often a combination, and this is where an integrated, supportive approach can make a meaningful difference.

Struggling with low energy, fatigue, or burnout? Learn where to start and how integrated dietitian and psychology support can help.

No two people experience mental health challenges in the same way.

That’s why support at Myrtle Oak Clinic is always personalised.
Some people benefit from working with one clinician.

Others find that a combined approach with both a psychologist and dietitian provides more comprehensive support.

Our role is to help you understand what’s going on, and guide you toward a plan that feels manageable and effective.

When we think about mental health, we often think about thoughts and emotions.

What we don’t always talk about is how much nutrition can influence:
• Energy levels
• Mood stability
• Sleep
• Concentration
• Stress response

At Myrtle Oak Clinic, our dietitians work alongside psychologists to support both mental and physical wellbeing.

For some people, this might mean:
• Re-establishing regular eating patterns
• Supporting appetite changes during stress or low mood
• Improving energy and daily functioning

Small, consistent changes can make a meaningful difference over time.
