Honouring Mr Alan "Corky" Corcoran.

The Tully RSL Sub-Branch was proud to recognise Mr Alan "Corky" Corcoran for his lifelong service to Australia and the veteran community.

Corky as he is fondly known by served as an Aircraftsman Dog Handler alongside his loyal service dog, Sabre, before dedicating many years to the Tully RSL Sub-Branch and the Far North District in support of veterans and their families.

Tully RSL President Allan Coenik presented Corky with a commemorative statuette in recognition of his outstanding commitment and service.

Thank you, Corky, for your dedication, friendship, and lifelong contribution.

The week we just had….and what a week is was…

H5 avian influenza (bird flu) has been confirmed in a migratory seabird found on an isolated beach in southern Western Australia. This is the first detection of H5 bird flu in Australia.

There have been no detections in poultry or additional native species.

Australia is well prepared to respond to H5 bird flu.

You can help. If you find multiple sick or dead birds or other animals do not touch them.

- Record – what you see.
- Report – to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.
