💛 R U OK? Day at Glengara 💛

Yesterday, our team at Glengara took the opportunity to come together in support of R U OK? Day, a national reminder of the importance of checking in with those around us.

Staff from our Operations and Care teams enjoyed a delicious BBQ lunch, generously cooked by our Village Manager, Kylie. It was a wonderful chance to step away from our busy day, connect with colleagues and reflect on the importance of looking out for one another.

Sometimes a simple question, "Are you OK?" can make all the difference. Taking the time to listen, offer support, and stay connected helps build a stronger, more caring community for everyone.

A big thank you to Kylie for firing up the BBQ and to all staff who joined us today. Together, we're creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported, and heard. 🌻

💙 Meet Dorothy – one of Glengara’s wonderful residents!

We loved seeing Dorothy featured by RetireAustralia and hearing about her incredible 23-year journey at Glengara.

Dorothy is a wonderful example of making the most of life at Glengara. 🎶

“I’ve had a very fortunate life, and I’ve been very happy here. There are lots of friends, lots to do and it’s a really lovely life,” says Glengara Retirement Village resident, Dorothy.

“I moved to Glengara with my husband Max 23 years ago, when the village was just getting started. We were among the very first residents moving in, during 2003. Back then, neither of us imagined how much this community would become part of our lives.

“These days, at 87, my diary is still full. There’s music, laughter, beautiful facilities and friendly faces everywhere you go. I’ve always believed life is meant to be enjoyed, and that’s easy to do here. I love getting dressed up for village events, and I especially love singing. In fact, I’m still hitting the top notes and performing with our choir at celebrations throughout the year.

“I’ve been on my own for nearly 10 years now, but I never feel alone. I have wonderful friends here. Janice, in particular, has taken me under her wing. The people are kind, generous and always looking out for one another. Every Christmas, residents fill my garage with donations for charity hampers for the Salvation Army. It reminds me just how special this community is.

“I often tell people how fortunate I’ve been in life. I’ve travelled, raised a family, made wonderful friends and created beautiful memories. But some of my happiest years have been right here at Glengara.”

Yesterday we welcomed Physio For You and Mobility Joy to Glengara for an informative presentation on all things mobility!

The team also ran through some helpful demonstrations, giving everyone a practical look at how different mobility aids can assist with everyday activities.
