Disability Support Worker (Female Preferred) – Casual

Northern Central Coast NSW

ONESTEP SUPPORT is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Disability Support Worker to join our team supporting a participant in the Northern Central Coast region.

This position will commence at approximately 6 hours per week, with opportunities to increase hours over time as additional supports become available and the right fit is established.

About the Role

We are seeking a support worker with experience supporting participants living with mental health and psychosocial disabilities. The successful applicant will be confident building rapport, maintaining professional boundaries, supporting emotional wellbeing, and promoting independence within the community and home environment.

Support duties may include:

Community access and social participation
Assisting with daily living tasks
Building confidence and independence
Supporting participant goals and skill development
Encouraging community engagement and meaningful activities
Providing emotional support while maintaining professional boundaries
Essential Requirements
Previous experience supporting participants with mental health and/or psychosocial disabilities
Current Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle
NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
Working With Children Check
Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
About You

We are looking for someone who is:

Compassionate, patient, and person-centred
Reliable and committed to providing consistent support
Confident supporting participants with complex emotional and psychosocial needs
Professional while building genuine and meaningful connections

While we welcome applications from all suitable candidates, this participant has expressed a preference for a female support worker, and applicants approximately 25–40 years of age may be best suited to the participant's interests and support preferences. 💙 Supporting a Local Family Through an Unimaginable Journey 💙

Today we're sharing a fundraiser for a local family whose beautiful newborn son, Jett, has been diagnosed with Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome (AGS), an extremely rare and serious genetic condition.

Little Jett faces a lifetime of complex medical needs, including feeding support, mobility assistance, ongoing medications, specialist appointments, and significant medical care. While some support is available, many of the costs associated with his care are not fully covered by Medicare or private health insurance.

No family should have to face this journey alone.

14,000 voices. And we’re not done yet.

PWDA presented our Change.org petition with more than 14,000 signatures this morning to Greens Senator Jordon Steele-John at a press conference alongside other disability representative organisations.

The Change.org petition shows the strong public support for our campaign.

People with disability should not be the ones paying for budget savings.

The Federal Budget proposes billions in savings that will directly impact the lives of people with disability's access to the supports we rely on to work, study, care for our families, and live full lives.

As PWDA Acting CEO Megan Spindler-Smith said: “You do not improve a government program by cutting the funding for that program.”

We will continue advocating for a more meaningful response that actually moves the dial on our full inclusion.

There’s still more to do. Our Parliamentary e-Petition 'Protect access to reasonable and necessary supports under the NDIS' is open until 27 May.
