Time for your health isn't found. It's created πŸ’š

We all have the same 24 hours β€” and we understand that life gets busy.

But here's what we've learned from years in practice:

The people who prioritise their health proactively β€” who don't wait until something forces them to stop β€” are the ones who keep moving well for longer πŸ™Œ

Every assessment. Every check up. Every time you walk through our door before something becomes a problem β€” that's a choice πŸ’š

Your health doesn't manage itself.

It's something worth nurturing.

You created that time.

And it matters.

What does chiropractic for kids actually look like? πŸ‘€

Sometimes it looks like this 😌

No rushing. No force. Just taking our time to gently assess how Lila's sacrum and surrounding structures are moving and functioning πŸ™Œ

This is what unhurried, attentive care looks like for little ones πŸ’š

We don't wait until something hurts.

Check ups aren't just for teeth 🦷

Houston we have liftoff πŸš€πŸ˜‚

Dr James didn't hold back on this one...

Upper back adjustment β€” when your thoracic spine has been holding on a little too tight 😬

Don't worry β€” it's supposed to feel like that πŸ˜‚πŸ™Œ

Can you stand up from a chair without using your arms? πŸ‘€

The sit to stand assessment is a simple but effective way to observe lower body function β€” giving us a useful snapshot of:

πŸ’ͺ Lower body strength
βš–οΈ Balance
🦡 Mobility
🧍 Postural control

Here Dr James demonstrates the correct technique β€” arms crossed on chest and controlled movement throughout. Make sure your back doesn't rest on the back of the chair in between each repetition. Repeat over 30 seconds πŸ™Œ

Want to try it yourself? Make sure the chair is pushed back against the wall and if you have any balance concerns please have someone nearby 😊

Brain Training Part 3 β€” Lila's! 🧠😊

The Spinal Galant is a primitive reflex we are born with β€” when retained beyond infancy it may be associated with difficulties in areas such as concentration, bladder control and sensory processing πŸ‘€

Two exercises supporting Spinal Galant reflex integration. It's Lila's first time doing these exercises β€” so there are plenty of giggles and her technique needs some fine tuning πŸ˜‚

Exercise 1 β€” The Pencil Wiggle
Lying on her back β€” wiggling the whole body from head to toe πŸ–ŠοΈ
(excuse Sunny, the puppy πŸΎπŸ˜‚)

Exercise 2 β€” Floor Angels
Lying on her back β€” arms start by her side then slowly out wide and back again whilst coordinating the breathing 🌟

A couple of things to note for Exercise 2 πŸ‘‡
This one needs to be performed much slower than you see here β€” with calm natural breathing. Breathe in as your arms expand outward, breathe out as they return.

Lila is still mastering the speed and calm breathing β€” and that's completely okay for a first attempt! πŸ’š

We'll be posting the improved version once she's had some practice 😊

Stay tuned for the glow up! ✨

Brain Training Part 2 🧠

You don't need equipment. You don't need a gym. You just need a few minutes and a card game πŸ™Œ (we chose Spot It!)

Here's what we're doing at home with Lila:
πŸ‘οΈ Spot It sitting β€” looking up and down β€” engages the STNR (Symmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex) while maintaining focus on a visual task
πŸ‘οΈ Spot It standing β€” looking up and down β€” same concept with an added postural challenge
πŸ”„ Crossing midline on one leg β€” challenges the ATNR (Asymmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex) while adding a balance component

These simple variations help support neurological development and brain-body coordination in growing children πŸ’š

If you missed Part 1 β€” check our profile for the full story!

Most parents have no idea the brain and spine are connected like this πŸ‘€

What looks like a fun game of Spot it at home (excuse the mess eek) is actually brain training β€” and it's doing something really important 🧠
Crossing the body's midline activates both hemispheres of the brain simultaneously β€” supporting neurological development and brain-body coordination.
In clinic we assess the Asymmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex β€” a primitive reflex that forms part of our neurological developmental check for children.
Babies are born with primitive reflexes. Sometimes these are retained beyond infancy β€” and assessing them is an important part of understanding how a child's brain and spine are working together πŸ™Œ
The brain and spine work together every single second of your child's life. Supporting that connection matters πŸ’š

This is Part 1 of our Brain Training series β€” follow along for Parts 2 and 3 coming soon!

Not all headaches are the same

Pain, joint restriction, tension and overload in the neck and spine can refer into different areas of the head β€” and knowing where your headache is can tell us a lot about what's driving it.

If you're getting regular headaches it might be time to get your neck checked πŸ™Œ
