WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET STRONGER?

Minimal dosage is two sets of 8-15 repetitions, done twice per week. ✅

This equates to roughly 6 minutes in total!

And the exercises can be simple bodyweight exercises!✅

Building strength does not need to be complicated or time intensive! 😎

EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE THE CHANCE TO BE PHYSICALLY ACTIVE 🏃‍♂️🏊‍♀️

In a way that’s unique to them!

After all, movement is medicine and health is wealth 💪😊

Intensity CAN matter

What’s more important is starting and knowing you don’t have to go all in in order to improve bone strength 🦴 🧐🙂‍↕️

Exercises can be performed at an intensity where you can maintain a conversation and still be a stimulus strong enough to improve bone strength! 💪

Age Related bone and soft tissue structural changes does not mean you can’t keep improving your strength and ability to do the tasks you enjoy 🙂 💪 ⛳️ 🏊🏼

Had the privilege this week to of talk to people living with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)- dialysis and dialysis participants- about finding ways to stay active and finding joy in movement! 🚶🏌️🏊‍♂️

This was done through “kidney bites” Kidney bites is an online community and virtual meeting series run by BEAT-CKD for people living with kidney disease, their families, and caregivers.

Additional information about this community can be found 👉 https://beatckd.org/for-patients-caregivers/kidney-bites/

We all know exercise has so many incredible benefits!

Here’s my tips on making exercise more achievable

1) Find something physical you enjoy and/or can do with a friend (e.g walking)

2) Start slow and don’t over commit (e.g try walking once per week for 20 minutes)

3) Repeat 2 and 3 until what you are doing becomes a habit (usually takes 3-4 weeks)

4) continue that activity, or if there’s another activity you enjoy, start with and follow the previous steps

Don’t put pressure on yourself and make it fun 😊
