We hit the headlines hard yesterday. A two-tier health system is widening in plain sight.

Our new Patient Insights report, Australian perspectives on medicines access, draws on a national survey of almost 4,000 patients and carers. It shows that whether you get the treatment you need increasingly depends on what you can afford, not what you clinically require.

The exact same medicine is within reach for someone who can pay privately, and out of reach for someone who can't and needs to access it through the PBS," says Patients Australia CEO Lisa Robins.

"People are going into debt and burning through their retirement savings just to stay on treatment. That is not a safety net. That is a sorting machine."

The cost of access is not measured only in co-payments. It shows up in time away from work, emotional strain, and trade-offs that reach into household budgets and long-term savings, and it falls hardest on the patients least able to absorb it.

Thanks to BioPharmaDispatch, MedNews, Pharma in Focus and Retail Pharmacy Magazine for their coverage of our report launch and its findings, and to Sandoz Australia & New Zealand for making undertaking this work possible.

Nominate an Outstanding Nurse who deserves recognition for the exceptional care and dedication they bring to their patients every day.

Across Australia, nurses are at the heart of our healthcare system. They are often the first face a patient sees, the constant presence through difficult diagnoses, long treatments and uncertain recoveries, and the professional who coordinates, advocates and comforts when it matters most.

They work across hospitals, general practice, aged care, community health, mental health, rural and remote settings and everywhere in between, often carrying enormous responsibility with quiet professionalism and deep compassion.

The πŸ† Outstanding Nurse Award πŸ† at the 2026 Patients' Choice Awards recognises a nurse who has gone above and beyond for their patients, delivering care that is not just clinically excellent but genuinely person-centred and deeply human.

If you know a nurse whose work deserves to be celebrated, now is the time to recognise them. πŸ‘

Tag a nurse who has made a real difference to you, a loved one or your community. ⬇️

Let's shine a spotlight on the nurses who show up, speak up and go the extra mile for their patients every single day.

Nominate an Outstanding Specialist who deserves recognition for the expertise, commitment and patient-centred care they bring to their field.

Specialists sit at the intersection of deep clinical knowledge and complex human need. They take on the cases that require years of training to navigate, the diagnoses that change lives, and the decisions that carry enormous weight for patients and families.

But the best specialists are not just technically excellent. They communicate clearly, treat patients with dignity, involve them in decisions about their own care and make what can be an intimidating experience feel safe and supported.

The πŸ† Outstanding Specialist Award πŸ† at the 2026 Patients' Choice Awards recognises a specialist who has delivered exceptional care, going beyond the clinical to truly see and support the person in front of them.

Whether they work in surgery, medicine, mental health, oncology, women's health or any other field, we want to celebrate the specialists who have made a meaningful difference to their patients' lives.

If you know a specialist whose work deserves recognition, now is the time to celebrate them. πŸ‘

Tag a specialist who has gone above and beyond for a patient, a colleague or your community. ⬇️

Let's shine a spotlight on the specialists who combine world-class expertise with genuine, compassionate care.

Nominate an Outstanding Digital Health Service that’s leading the future of what healthcare in Australia should look like.

The best digital health services do more than introduce new technology. They use innovation to solve real problems for patients - improving access, reducing barriers to care, and delivering more personalised support when and where it is needed.

Whether it's helping people in rural and regional communities access healthcare, supporting those with mobility or transport challenges, improving continuity of care, or creating more convenient ways for patients to connect with trusted health professionals, digital health is transforming how care is delivered.

At its best, digital health makes healthcare more accessible, more responsive and more patient-centred.

πŸ† The Outstanding Digital Health Service Award πŸ† at the 2026 Patient's Choice Awards recognises a service that is using innovation to improve patient outcomes and experiences, while creating meaningful access to care for the people who need it most.

If you know a digital health service whose work deserves to be celebrated, now is the time to recognise them. πŸ‘

Tag a service, team or colleague that is helping shape the future of healthcare. ⬇️

Let's shine a spotlight on the digital health services helping patients access care, navigate their healthcare journey and achieve better health outcomes.
