What do you see?

A child spinning around the classroom.

It’s easy to assume they’re being disruptive, naughty or attention seeking.

But what if we’re looking at the behaviour without understanding what it’s is communicating?

For some children, movement isn’t about disrupting the classroom. It can be their brain and body’s way of regulating, increasing body awareness, improving concentration, or helping them feel ready to learn.

When we move beyond the behaviour and become curious about the why, we often discover a child who isn’t trying to make learning harder—they’re trying to make learning possible.

Sometimes, changing the question changes everything.

Most people don't know Medicare covers mental health support with an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker — an AMHSW.
Not a psychologist. Not a psychiatrist. A different profession entirely — one that most GPs don't routinely mention, and most people have never heard of.

AMHSWs are university trained, clinically supervised, and registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers. They provide evidence-based therapy for depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, and parenting challenges. The current Medicare rebate is $89.50 per session. Wait times are typically shorter than for psychologists. Outcomes are comparable.

If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, you may already be eligible. Up to 10 sessions per calendar year are covered.

Ask your GP about an AMHSW referral.
