Today in Salamanca, we came together with the community for World Su***de Prevention Day and R U OK? Day.

We all move through life’s ups and downs differently. Sometimes, a simple question like ‘R U OK?’ can open the door to a conversation that someone might really need.

To everyone who stopped by to chat, picked up resources, or added your voice to the Messages of Hope book, thank you. Your words and drawings will carry comfort to others in the days ahead.

Reaching out and asking for help isn’t always easy. If you’re struggling, or you’re worried about someone you know, support is available.

For 24-hour crisis support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14. If you’re in an emergency, call 000.

National Child Protection Week is a time to reflect on the role we all play in keeping children and young people safe, heard and supported.

This year’s theme, Every Conversation Matters: Shifting Conversations to Action, reminds us that small, everyday moments can make a real difference. Listening, checking in and offering support can help create safer environments for children.

Our work is guided by strong safeguarding practices, with connection and respect at the centre of everything we do. We are committed to supporting families, strengthening relationships and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people across Tasmania.

Strong, supported families are at the heart of this. When people feel connected, children are more likely to feel secure, valued and protected.

If you or someone you know needs support, call 1300 364 277.

Together we’ll find a way.

You deserve to feel safe, respected and supported in your relationships.

Abuse isn't always physical. Emotional, verbal and psychological abuse can be just as harmful and can have a significant impact on your wellbeing.

If you're concerned about your relationship or are experiencing violence or abuse, support is available.

Daisy is a free app developed by 1800RESPECT that helps connect people experiencing violence or abuse with local support services. The app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.

You don't have to navigate this alone.

For counselling and support, call 1300 364 277 or visit tas.relationships.org.au.

Your experience of Tasmania matters.

We’re sharing this survey because hearing directly from Tasmanians is an important part of understanding what our communities need, both now and into the future.

If you’re 18 or over and live in Tasmania, or have lived here in the past five years, you can share your experience through this short, anonymous survey.

It takes around 7 minutes, and you can also choose to enter the draw to win one of five $50 gift cards.

To better understand what Tasmanians need in the future, we’re inviting you to participate in a short survey about your experiences living here. We’d love to know what is easy or hard about living in Tasmania, how connected you feel to your community, and the things that may influence you to leave or stay in your local area and in Tasmania.

✖️ tasmanian.com.au/population-survey

The survey takes 7 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous. It is open to anyone age 18 or older who is either currently living in Tasmania, or has lived here sometime in the past five years.

Share your thoughts, and you can choose to go into a prize draw to win one of five $50 gift cards.

Thank you for helping to shape Tasmania’s future!

This study has been approved by the University of Tasmania Human Research Ethics Committee (H40733).

On Friday, our staff wore purple and good vibes to show their support for LGBTQIA+ young people and to recognise the important role we all play in creating spaces where young people feel safe, respected and valued.

We see every day how important it is for people to feel a genuine sense of belonging.

It can be achieved as simply as listening without judgement, using inclusive language, standing alongside someone, or making space for people to be who they are.

We are committed to providing safe, inclusive and welcoming services for people of all genders and sexualities, and our recently accredited Rainbow Tick is a testament to this. But there is still more to do, and we are excited to be on a path of continual growth and learning.

If you are a young person looking for support, or someone wanting guidance on how to better support LGBTIQA+ young people, we are here to help.

There is no “right amount of time” for grief to last, and it can feel different for everyone. For some, the intensity may ease over time. For others, grief can resurface unexpectedly, especially during anniversaries, milestones, or everyday moments that bring memories forward.

This is a normal part of grieving, even when it feels unexpected.

Grief can come and go, shift in intensity, and be triggered long after a loss has occurred. It does not mean something is wrong, it is part of how we process and adapt to loss.

If you or someone you know is experiencing grief and loss and would like support, GriefCare Tasmania will connect you to the right services for your situation.

We provide support in different ways, including in-person, by video, over the phone, and through online workshops and training.

GriefCare Tasmania is independent, inclusive, non-religious and confidential.

Grief shows up in many parts of life. It is not only experienced after someone dies, but can also be felt through other life changes and transitions such as:

- Relationship breakdowns or separation
- A health diagnosis or significant change in health
- Loss of identity, purpose, or life roles (such as parenting, work, or caregiving roles changing)
- Major life transitions like moving, retirement, or changes in independence

These experiences may bring real and valid feelings of loss.

Understanding this can help us better support ourselves and those around us.

GriefCare Tasmania is a single access point for grief, loss and bereavement services and designed to take the guesswork out of support.

Our team will navigate the coordinated range of services to find the support that suits your needs the best.

We provide support in different ways, including in-person, by video, over the phone, and through online workshops and training.

GriefCare Tasmania is independent, inclusive, non-religious and confidential.

Taking care of yourself is an important part of self-care. When your energy is low, everyday things can feel more difficult, including managing stress and showing up for yourself and others.

Self-care looks different for everyone. It is not one-size-fits-all, and it can change depending on what you need in the moment. It might be rest, movement, connection, time outdoors, or simply slowing down for a moment.

Even small, consistent acts of self-care can help you feel more balanced, grounded, and able to cope with life’s demands.

If you are feeling overwhelmed and need support prioritising self care, call us on 1300 364 277 or visit tas.relationships.org.au.

Together, we'll find a way.
