Life’s ups and downs happen to all of us. 💛

But people won’t always tell you when they’re struggling. 💬

Here are some key things to ask yourself when you sense someone in your life may need support:

🔹 Have they been distracted or withdrawn?
🔹 Are they having relationship difficulties?
🔹 Are they experiencing increased levels of stress?
🔹 Are they facing financial strain?
🔹 Have there been major changes at work or home?
🔹 Have they experienced the loss of someone?
🔹 Do they have health concerns?

These are challenging things for any of us to navigate, but asking “R U OK?” ANY day might be just what someone needs to help them through.

You might not always have the right words, but simply listening and showing you care can make someone feel seen, valued and supported.

⭐ Ask “R U OK?”
⭐ Listen
⭐ Encourage action
⭐ Check in again

So today, check in with someone. Not just because it's R U OK? Day, but because connection matters every day.

Keeping children and young people safe is everyone’s responsibility. 💙

This National Child Protection Week (6–12 September), we stand firmly behind the message.

Real change starts with real conversations – and every conversation matters more when it includes everyone.

This year’s campaign includes Deadly Together, recognising the strength, leadership and voices of First Nations communities in keeping children safe and thriving. 🌟

At Relationships Australia WA, we’re committed to creating child-friendly environments where all children are safe, supported and heard.

To all the dads and father figures who show up, we see you. 🙌

Fatherhood doesn’t come with all the answers. And while dads are often the ones we lean on, it’s important to remember that they need support too.

Whether it’s parenting, relationships, separation or simply having someone to talk to, we’re here to support you.

Happy Father’s Day 💙

🌈 Wear It Purple Day 2026 💜

Today and every day, we proudly stand with LGBTQIA+SB youth and recognise the importance of creating safe, supportive and inclusive spaces where everyone can feel seen, heard and valued.

This year’s Wear It Purple Day theme, ‘Colours of Courage’, celebrates the many ways courage can show up in our lives and communities.

Courage can be speaking up, standing out and creating change. It can also be found in quieter moments – being yourself, asking for support, standing beside someone, or choosing to learn and understand.

💬 Need someone to talk to?
We offer confidential counselling and support for LGBTQIA+SB young people, allies and families.

We’re here to listen, uplift and support you to live authentically and proudly. 🫶

This time of year, many of us start to feel stretched, overwhelmed, or even burnt out. 🫨

Setting healthy boundaries is one of the most effective ways to support your wellbeing when it all starts to feel like too much.

Here are 6 simple tips to help you set and maintain healthy boundaries:

1️⃣ Assess your needs and limits — check in with your physical, emotional and mental capacity.

2️⃣ Focus on what you can control — shifting out of blame helps you take empowered action.

3️⃣ Communicate clearly and respectfully — a calm, neutral tone helps others understand your needs.

4️⃣ Hold your boundary with follow-through — gently remind others and take action when needed.

5️⃣ Acknowledge those who respect your boundaries — saying thank you reinforces positive behaviour.

6️⃣ Be adaptable — healthy boundaries can shift when needed; you choose when to hold firm or soften.

As the Acacia’s yellow bloom lights the landscape, we welcome Djilba – the season of conception 💛

With the shifting transitional days of Makaru’s crisp, clear weather, this season of growing brings a mix of warmer days, rain showers 🌧️, gusty winds, and the occasional sunny day or two. ☀️

During this time, you may notice birds taking shelter during sudden downpours. The koolbardi (magpies) and djidi-djidi (w***y wagtails) are swooping this time of year as they protect their nests and their young.

Djilba is an abundant season. Water and food sources are replenished, while orchids, wattles and balga (grass trees) begin to flower. 🌱

Just as seasons move through cycles, we too experience periods of change and growth in our lives.

Relationships Australia WA is here to support individuals, partners and families through every season.

We share this cultural knowledge with respect, acknowledging that it belongs to the Noongar people, the Traditional Custodians of this land. 🖤💛❤️
