NDIS reforms announced - what we know so far.

Following today’s National Press Club address by NDIS Minister Mark Butler, it’s clear the scheme is entering a significant period of reform over the next four years.

Key themes include:
- A “reset period” to slow growth and improve sustainability
- Greater focus on functional assessments over diagnosis
- A stronger shift toward provider registration and oversight
- Introduction of a digital payments system, with most payments expected to flow to registered providers
- Increased investment in foundational supports outside the NDIS

While many details will continue to unfold, the direction is clear - a move toward a more structured, accountable, and sustainable system.

At Paediatric Potentials OT, we have always operated as a registered NDIS provider. While this has placed us in the minority, our approach has remained consistent - prioritising safety, compliance, and the well-being of the children and families we support, every day.

We’ll continue to follow developments closely and support families in understanding what these changes mean.

The NDIS is changing — here’s what we know so far.

There’s been a lot of discussion recently around mandatory registration for NDIS providers and what this could mean for families and services across Australia.

Recent updates suggest a move toward a tiered, risk-based registration system, aimed at improving safety, transparency, and accountability across the scheme.

At this stage, many details are still being finalised.

We’re closely following developments and are particularly interested in today’s address by NDIS Minister Mark Butler at the National Press Club, where further clarity is expected.

In the meantime, we’ve put together a summary of:
• What’s been proposed so far
• What recent updates are telling us
• What this could mean for families accessing therapy supports

Some amazing designs being brought to life in our iCreate: Cardboard Constructions Group Program. Communication, planning, social interactions and fine motor skills were all in top gear during this program. Here’s a wrap-up of our most successful CommuniTeens Café yet!

CommuniTeens is thoughtfully designed for teenagers - creating a safe, engaging space where they can build confidence, develop skills, and connect with others.

Each school holidays, we like to mix things up - and this time, our amazing Teens stepped into the role of baristas. They rolled up their sleeves to serve cappuccinos, lattes, and hot chocolates, perfectly paired with a delicious selection of sweet treats.

We were thrilled to welcome local businesses who came along to enjoy the experience, grab a coffee, and support our teens. The response was incredible - customers are already asking when the next café will be open!
