You don’t have to be severely constipated to know something isn’t right.

Maybe you’re going every day...
…but you’re still bloated.

Maybe you constantly feel heavy after eating.
Maybe you rely on coffee every morning just to get things moving.
Maybe you’ve accepted that feeling uncomfortable is just “normal.”

It isn’t.

Your gut has a remarkable way of communicating with you, but most of us have been taught to ignore the signs, cover them up or reach for another quick fix.

The truth is, digestive symptoms are information.

They’re your body’s way of saying, something needs attention.

At Bottoms Up, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions.

We take the time to understand your symptoms, your lifestyle, your stress, your hydration, your nutrition and your bowel habits so we can help you build a plan that supports long-term digestive health.

Whether that includes education, lifestyle strategies or the Rojas Method Colon Hydrotherapy, our goal is the same:

To help you understand your body, not just manage the symptoms.

✨ You deserve to feel light.
✨ You deserve to feel comfortable.
✨ And you deserve to enjoy your day without constantly thinking about your gut.

If you recognised yourself on these slides, maybe it’s time to stop pushing through and start listening.

I know we harp on about this... but...

Chew!!! Your gut is waiting.

Digestion doesn’t begin in your stomach.

It begins the moment you start chewing. Well, technically, it starts the moment you think or smell food, but that’s another post for another day.

Every bite you thoroughly chew (into a paste) mixes with salivary amylase (an enzyme that starts breaking down carbohydrates before food even reaches your stomach).

When you rush your meals, you skip the very first stage of digestion.

And this is not without consequences later on.

But saliva does much more than digest food.

It also contains secretory IgA (slgA). One of your body’s first lines of immune defence. As you chew, your food becomes coated with saliva containing sigA, allowing it to encounter these protective immune factors before it even leaves your mouth.

Secretory IgA helps bind to unwanted bacteria, viruses and other potential invaders, supporting a healthy balance within your digestive tract.

Thorough chewing gives food more time to mix with saliva, digestive enzymes and these protective immune factors, supporting the earliest stages of digestion and your gut’s natural defence systems.

The simple act of slowing down and chewing well gives your body time to:

• Begin digesting food properly.
• Coat each mouthful with digestive enzymes.
• Expose food to protective immune factors like secretory
IgA.
• Send signals to your stomach, pancreas and gallbladder that food is on its way.
• Set the stage for smoother digestion further down the digestive tract.

In a world obsessed with supplements, we often overlook one of the most powerful digestive habits available to us.

Chew more. Rush less.

Sometimes the biggest improvements in gut health begin with the smallest habits. Every bite is an opportunity to support digestion, nourish your microbiome, and work with your body’s remarkable design.

If you’ve ever been curious about getting a colonic but felt a little nervous, I completely get it.

For me, the biggest difference wasn’t the treatment itself. It was the person behind it.

Alyce Alyce | Gold Coast Colonics | Gut Health | Parasite Cleanses made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked into Bottoms Up Colonics.

She took the time to answer my questions, explain everything, and made what could have been a really intimidating experience feel safe and easy.

We’ve teamed up to offer a special deal, so simply look for the ByBecJayne Specials when booking and choose Alyce as your therapist.

Have you ever thought about trying a colonic?

Lately, one thing we’ve noticed in clinic is the number of support workers coming through our doors.

And honestly... we’re not surprised.

Support work is physically demanding, emotionally rewarding and often unpredictable. Long shifts, changing rosters, irregular meal times, not drinking enough water and putting everyone else’s needs before your own can all take a toll on your digestive health.

While every person’s story is different, these lifestyle factors can influence things like constipation, bloating and overall gut function.

To every support worker reading this: thank you.

Thank you for the compassion, patience and care you give to others every single day.

This is your reminder that your health deserves that same level of care too.

Sometimes the people who spend their lives looking after everyone else need someone to look after them.

💚 If your gut has been trying to tell you something, we’d love to support you.

𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗚𝘂𝘁'𝘀 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘀

When people think about serotonin, they usually think about the brain. But here's something fascinating: around 90–95% of your body's serotonin is actually produced in the gut by specialised cells called enterochromaffin (EC) cells.

These remarkable cells are scattered throughout the lining of your intestines. They act like tiny sensors, constantly sampling what passes through your digestive tract. When they detect nutrients, beneficial microbes, or even mechanical stretching from food moving through the bowel, they release serotonin.

In the gut, serotonin isn't there to make you feel happy. Instead, it helps regulate bowel movements, supports healthy gut motility, communicates with the nervous system, influences nausea, and plays an important role in the ongoing conversation between your gut and your brain. Healthy EC cells contribute to healthy digestion, while also influencing mood, sleep and overall wellbeing through the gut-brain axis.

So, how do you look after them?

The answer isn't a serotonin supplement. It's creating an environment where these cells can thrive.

Support your enterochromaffin cells by:

Eating a diverse range of colourful, fibre-rich whole foods to nourish your gut microbiome.

Looking after beneficial gut bacteria, as their fermentation products (particularly short-chain fatty acids) help maintain a healthy intestinal lining.

Ensuring regular bowel movements so waste products don't linger unnecessarily in the colon.

Managing chronic stress, which can disrupt gut signalling and serotonin regulation.

Prioritising quality sleep, as the gut and nervous system are closely connected.

Supporting overall digestive health, including healthy stomach acid, bile flow and intestinal barrier function.

Addressing digestive imbalances, such as infections or overgrowths, with appropriate guidance when necessary.

At Bottoms Up Colonics, we see every day how supporting the gut can positively influence how people feel. Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too.

Rojas colon hydrotherapy and our trained therapists help you to optimise the gut environment, promote healthy bowel function and support digestive wellbeing to help create the conditions in which your gut, microbiome and enterochromaffin cells can function at their best.

After all, a healthy gut doesn't just digest food. It communicates with your entire body.

Most people think hydration is simple.

Drink more water. ✔️

But here’s what we see in clinic all the time...

Clients who are drinking 2 litres of water every day and are still struggling with constipation.

Because hydration isn’t just about how much water you drink.
It’s about whether your body can actually absorb and use it.

Minerals matter.
Fibre matters.
Movement matters.
Stress matters.

Even how much coffee you’re drinking can influence your hydration needs.

Your digestive system relies on adequate hydration to help keep stool soft and support healthy bowel movements. Water is just one piece of the puzzle.

At Bottoms Up, we don’t just look at the symptom. We look at the whole person and the daily habits that influence gut health, so you leave with practical strategies you can use long after your appointment.

Have you ever been told to “just drink more water” when you were constipated?

👇 I’d love to know if that’s advice you’ve heard.
