This September, the team has selected Ciara’s Gift: Grief Edged with Gold by Una Glennon.

Many Western Australians will be familiar with the tragic story of Ciara Glennon, who was murdered in 1997. In this deeply personal memoir, Ciara’s mother, Una, shares her experience of grief and her search for meaning and hope in the years following the devastating loss of her daughter.

🎨 A beautiful show of support for Guide Dogs WA

We are incredibly grateful to blind artist Norma Pearce, who is generously donating all proceeds from her upcoming exhibition, The Inner Light, to Guide Dogs WA.

Norma’s artworks will be exhibited alongside the support of fellow artists Jenny Jones and Sue Rushton at Studio 11 Art Gallery in Fremantle, with the exhibition opening on Sunday 27 September from 2pm–4pm.

The exhibition will also be open on 1, 2 and 3 October from 11am–4pm, with all proceeds supporting Guide Dogs WA.

A heartfelt thank you to Norma for choosing to support Guide Dogs WA through her art. Generous community fundraising like this helps us continue our work supporting Western Australians with low or no vision to live with greater independence, confidence and connection.

Join our friends at Blind Sports WA and the West Australian Blind Cricket Club - The Venetians for a great day out!

Join them for the WA Blind Cricket Club season opener and Family Open Day. Try Blind Cricket, join a modified game, meet Australian representatives, enjoy the BBQ, or simply go along and be part of the day!

This is an event for everyone, regardless of skill level. Everyone is welcome, including friends and family.

💛 Today is R U OK?Day

It’s a reminder that a simple question can be the start of a meaningful conversation.

If someone you know seems a little quieter than usual, is going through a difficult time, or simply hasn’t seemed themselves lately, take a moment to check in.

Ask “Are you OK?” and give them the time and space to answer. You don’t need to have all the answers — sometimes simply listening and showing you care can make a difference.

And while today puts the spotlight on the question, checking in with the people around us is important every day of the year.

The Town is seeking new members to join its **Access and Inclusion Advisory Group (AIAG)** and help shape a more accessible and inclusive community.

At VisAbility, we know how important it is that the voices and lived experiences of people with disability – including people who are blind or have low vision – are represented in conversations about accessibility and inclusion.

The Town encourages people with lived experience of disability, carers, advocates and interested community members to submit an Expression of Interest.

You can get involved in the way that works best for you:
• Complete a short online Expression of Interest form

💛 R U OK?Day is coming up this Thursday, 10 September

Sometimes a simple conversation can make a meaningful difference.

R U OK?Day is an important reminder to check in with the people around us — not just on one day of the year, but whenever we notice someone might be struggling.

You don’t need to be an expert or to have all the answers. Taking the time to ask “Are you OK?”, to listen without judgement and just show you care can be a powerful place to start.

Over the next few days, take a moment to think about the people in your life. Is there someone you haven’t heard from lately, or someone who hasn’t quite seemed themselves?

Maybe it’s time to check in. 💛

🌏 Today is World Physiotherapy Day!

To celebrate, we’re shining a spotlight on one of our experienced physiotherapists, Emma Bennett, who has been part of the EverAbility team for eight years.

Drawn to physiotherapy through an interest in movement, exercise and health, Emma said she wanted a career where she could work alongside people and make a meaningful difference in their everyday lives.

💬 “The best part of being a physiotherapist is creating meaningful connections with clients and their families. It’s incredibly rewarding to work alongside children and their families to achieve their goals and celebrate milestones that can have a significant impact on their confidence, independence and participation in daily life," she said.

Working across Kites and VisAbility means supporting people throughout different stages of life – from babies and children through to adults – and no two days are quite the same."

And Emma's advice for anyone considering a career in physiotherapy?

💬 *“I would highly recommend it! It is such a rewarding profession. I have met so many wonderful clients, families and colleagues throughout my career so far.” 😊

This Physiotherapy Day we celebrate our physiotherapists and the important role they play in helping people build their movement, confidence, independence and participation in everyday life.
