There is something deeply ancient about the mushroom.

Long before it became a symbol of fairy tales and forest magic, the mushroom was revered in shamanic and earth-based traditions as a sacred threshold between worlds. Where earth meets spirit. Where the seen meets the unseen.

Herb of the Week: Lavender

Lavender is one of the most recognised herbs in both spiritual and everyday healing. Its calming energy makes it a cornerstone of any herb collection.

Spiritual uses: Lavender is used for peace, calm, and purification. It is burned or placed around the home to create a tranquil atmosphere and invite restful sleep. Traditionally associated with love, healing, and protection. Burning lavender before meditation helps quiet a busy mind.

Medicinal properties: Well-documented for reducing anxiety, promoting sleep, and easing headaches. Applied topically, lavender oil soothes minor burns, insect bites, and skin irritation. It is one of the most studied herbs for stress relief.

Can it be smoked? Lavender can be smoked in small amounts and is sometimes included in herbal smoking blends for its calming effect. Use sparingly. Consult a healthcare professional before use, especially with respiratory conditions.

Can it be taken as tea? Yes. Dried lavender buds make a gentle, floral tea. Steep a small amount in hot water for 5 minutes. Avoid large quantities, and check with a healthcare professional if you are on medication.

Best extraction method: Steam inhalation and topical oil application are highly effective. Bath soaks with dried lavender are excellent for stress relief and skin. Tea infusion works well for sleep and anxiety support.
