This week, the herd & I focussed on 'Preparing for Change'. The weather has been unpredictable & I realised that I didn't have a plan to support the horses in a flood or other emergency. So this week, I walked them out of their usual paddock & up to higher, drier land. At first, they were weary, looking around, sniffing the air, checking in with me, but after a few minutes they just went back to grazing. It got me thinking about how we can learn from the horses when we have to change from our usual routine or pattern. Change can feel uncomfortable or even scary at first. But when we trust in ourselves, stay connected to supportive people around us, & allow ourselves time to adjust, we often find our footing again & go back to our own version of 'grazing'.
Sometimes safety isn’t found in staying where things feel familiar - sometimes it’s found in being willing to move toward higher ground.
