🌴☀️ Back from paradise! ☀️🌴

After a wonderful week away in beautiful Fiji with my husband, I'm feeling refreshed, recharged and very grateful. It was our first visit, and staying on a stunning island was an unforgettable experience. With over 330 islands, Fiji truly is a little slice of paradise 🏝.

From the moment you step off the plane, you're welcomed with a heartfelt "Bula!" and the biggest smiles😊. The genuine warmth, kindness and hospitality of the Fijian people made every day feel special❤️ .

There were so many highlights—daily snorkels🛟and swims amongst colourful coral, tropical fish🐠, graceful manta rays and turtles🐢, breathtaking sunsets ☀️, delicious fresh tropical fruit and seafood, reading six books 📚, and drifting off to sleep each night to the soothing sound of the ocean waves🌊.

A week spent living on "island time" was exactly what was needed in the middle of a Wagga winter. Now it's time to swap the sand and crystal-clear waters for the surgery🪥.

Happy Birthday to our wonderful dental assistant, Bridie! 🎉

Last week we had a lovely time celebrating with a delicious red velvet cake, made by her talented sister, Kirralee 👏❤️🍰 . Both Bridie and Kirralee work part-time with us while completing their university degrees. We are so proud of all they are achieving.

Bridie's calm manner, winning smile and incredible computer know-how makes every day run that little bit smoother for our team 💻. She is always ready to help, supports everyone around her, and brings a quiet confidence that we appreciate😄.

Bridie is such an essential part of our surgery, and celebrating her birthday was an absolute joy. Wishing you a wonderful year ahead, Bridie – thank you for everything you do 🥳 🎈🦷.

A long weekend in Sydney🏢was the perfect way to celebrate Arthur, our second son's birthday, continuing a family tradition we all look forward to each year. No matter how busy life becomes, we all make the journey to his adopted hometown ✈️.

There were so many highlights—from a fascinating tour of the Netflix studio where Arthur works as an animator, to having our colours done🎨, a little shopping (including a visit to Haigh's 🍫, a sweet reminder of my hometown of Adelaide), parkrun, fish and chips at the new Sydney Fish Market🐟, and , of course, a delicious ice cream birthday cake!

But as lovely as those experiences were, the greatest joy was simply being together. Sharing meals, games, walks, stories and plenty of laughter in the company of the people we love☕️.

Feeling incredibly grateful for family, for time together, and for memories that will last a lifetime❤️.

🏃‍♀️🎉 Recently I completed my 100th parkrun at Wagga Wagga! It is my favourite way to start any weekend. Whether you choose to run, jog or walk the beautiful 5km course around Lake Albert, or wherever you happen to be, parkrun offers so much more than exercise. It's a chance to challenge yourself, enjoy the outdoors, experience a sense of accomplishment, catch up with friends and be part of a wonderful community.

A special shout out to my daughter Jane, who continues to inspire me to lace up my running shoes every Saturday morning, rain, hail or shine👟.

It's an exciting time for parkrun, with Wagga Wagga parkrun celebrating its 400th event next Saturday, 20th June 2026👏.

Even more remarkably, the global parkrun movement, which began with just 13 runners in a London park in 2004, has recently reached its one millionth event across 23 countries and more than 2,800 locations worldwide🌏.

Here's to community, movement, and the simple joy of starting the weekend well. 💙

This week we celebrated the amazing Jenny's birthday 🎉🥕🍰.

Jenny has been such a constant and indispensable part of our team forever. A brilliant chairside assistant, she often predicts exactly what we need before we even realise it ourselves!

Jenny is also my wonderful assistant during dental day surgery procedures, organises all our stock, keeps infection control running smoothly, and expertly trains new staff — in the most encouraging manner - all of this with a smile on her face.

A special shout-out to Simone for baking the delicious carrot cake for the birthday lunch🧡.

We are so blessed to have Jenny as an integral part of our practice family🌸.

Happy Birthday to our wonderful Annie🎉.

We celebrated with a delicious white chocolate raspberry mud cake 🎂 baked by Bridie — and plenty of smiles all round!

Annie's friendly face greets every patient as they walk through our doors and often is the reassuring voice on the other end of the phone. She has a gift for making everyone feel welcome and cared for💙.

Like all our team, Annie brings so many wonderful qualities to the surgery and one of her true superpowers is remembering the names of all our patients - something that never ceases to amaze us!

We are so grateful for all that you do Annie, and hope your birthday celebrations are as incredible as you are 💐✨.

Last week we completed staff training in managing medical emergencies in the dental practice👩‍⚕️.

As always, it was a fantastic and informative day with John Fahey from Cynergex, updating us with the latest evidence-based best practice 🦷.

Keeping us fueled for a full day of learning was helped by coffee from Trail Street ☕, freshly baked scones with jam and cream from Carmel and lunch from Wes's Walkabout Cafe 🥪.

So proud to work alongside a team that embraces ongoing learning, participation and, most importantly, always putting the best interests of our patients first. ✨

There’s something truly special about the change of seasons, and autumn never fails to impress🍁. Here in Wagga, it’s hard to fault this time of year, with crisp mornings and golden afternoons 🌿.The colours in my garden have been simply beautiful—rich reds, warm oranges, and soft yellows creating a constantly changing picture 🍂 . Nature has a way of reminding us to pause and appreciate these simple moments 🌼. It’s a gentle shift, but one that brings so much joy and calm ✨.

On International Nurses Day, 12th May, which is the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birthday, I want to acknowledge and thank the incredible nurses and all the team at the Calvary Riverina Hospital Surgicentre 🩺. As a dentist, I have the privilege of working with them most weeks.

No matter how busy the day, they are always so organised, professional and helpful - bringing kindness, compassion and reassurance not only to patients, but to everyone around them👏.
They truly are the cornerstone of every surgery day, helping me treat children's smiles😊.

To quote Jean Watson "Caring is the essence of nursing" 💙

Recently I read, “I don’t know why we celebrate Mother’s Day with gifts, because if you are fortunate enough to have children, every day is a gift.” 💕

Wherever you are today, I hope you are spending time with or being messaged, phoned or hugged by whoever is at the centre of your world. May you always know how deeply loved and appreciated you are, whether it is Mother’s Day or any ordinary day 🌸

Today is also a time to reflect on and remember the mothers, grandmothers and families who are no longer with us, but whose love remains forever part of our lives.

To all the wonderful mums, grandmothers and mother figures enjoy the day. 💐
