💜🌈 Celebrating connection, inclusion and a little bit of purple!

Yesterday, Issy and Lisa proudly represented the Mental Health Recovery Unit at the NSW Regional Rainbow Forum, joining conversations about creating safe, inclusive and responsive healthcare for LGBTQ+ people in regional communities.

It was also Wear It Purple Day, and the beautiful Rhonda Paradise certainly understood the assignment in that fabulous purple sequin dress! ✨💜

And a shout-out to Pride in the Paddock, coming up Saturday 19 September at the Riverside Precinct — a wonderful celebration of pride, connection and community. 🏳️‍🌈

Tomorrow we are excited to welcome the Murrumbidgee Men’s Group as they hold one of their regular meet-ups at the unit.

These gatherings provide a valuable opportunity for men to connect, build supportive relationships, and help break down the stigma surrounding mental health. By creating a safe, welcoming space where men can share their experiences, listen to one another, and know they’re not alone, conversations about mental health become easier and more meaningful.

MMG are meeting up this Sunday at the Recovery Program, 11am-2pm.

This meet up is open to community and men from all walks of life.

Hope to see you there 🙌🏼.

Spreading the word about Our Why - A Different Kind of Mental Health Gathering!

This week, our Service Manager Laura joined the team at ABC Riverina to chat about the upcoming Our Why event and why creating spaces for connection, learning and inspiration in mental health is so important.

The conversation highlighted the incredible speakers, community organisations and lived experience voices that will come together on Thursday 11 June to explore the reasons why we show up in mental health and the impact we hope to make.

A big thank you to ABC Riverina for helping us share this event with the wider community.

Everyday moments of kindness, connection and support help shape positive experiences for participants, families, carers and staff. Together, we continue to listen, learn and grow in the spirit of recovery-oriented care.

Thursday in the Recovery Unit 🌅

From a peaceful sunrise start, to laughter over a competitive game of giant Jenga, to a BBQ dinner proudly prepared by participants Thursday was all about connection, skill-building, and shared moments.

We wrapped it up the best way we know how… mindfully taking in the quiet beauty of the moon from the balcony 🌙

Meet Bobby – Recovery Unit Dog in Training 🐾

Bobby is an Australian Shepherd born on a farm in Dubbo on 5 November 2024. One of eight siblings, he’s full of energy and loves people, pats and playing ball (though giving the ball back is still a work in progress!).

Bobby belongs to Lisa, who was also Buddy’s owner ❤️ As he’s still a young puppy learning his skills, he only visits the unit on weekends at the moment.
