You can’t move forward if you’re always looking back.

With the Lion’s Gate energy this week bringing themes of courage, release and moving forward, maybe it’s an opportunity to decide you’re ready to stop carrying something that belongs in the past.

Setting yourself free from something that happened in the past doesn’t mean forgetting it or pretending it didn’t matter.

Some things happen because of other people. Some are circumstances we had no control over. And sometimes life simply doesn't turn out the way we thought it would.

Whatever happened, we can continue carrying the anger, sadness, fear, hurt or disappointment long after the event itself has passed.

Releasing those emotions doesn’t change what happened.

It changes what you carry forward.

And maybe that’s what finally allows you to close that chapter and set yourself free.

The Lion’s Gate portal reaches its peak on Saturday 8/8 this week and one of its themes is courage.

And courage doesn’t always mean doing something big or scary.

Sometimes it’s simply deciding that you’re ready to release something that you've been carrying for far too long.

Something you thought you had moved on from, until a conversation, a memory or something happening in your life takes you straight back there again.

Because knowing something is over and actually being free from the emotional impact of it are two very different things.

We can move forward with our lives and still carry the anger, sadness, hurt, fear or disappointment from something that happened a long time ago.

Maybe courage is deciding you don't want to carry it anymore.

To finally bring it to a close, so you don't have to carry it into the next chapter of your life.

What chapter are you ready to finally close?

I'll never forget the day I asked my client if she got her money’s worth from my program,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and she said

“Are you kidding? I would have sold my house to get this!”

She went from being anxious about every little thing and snapping at her kids and partner to being relaxed, confident and enjoying life and for much less than her house is worth.

What would it be worth to you to feel the freedom to enjoy life again?

The last few days have had me thinking.

First about deciding you're ready for change.

Then about how hard it can be to ask for and accept help.

And yesterday, my body reminded me that sometimes the bravest thing we can do is rest.

It struck me that all three have something in common.

They require us to let go of the belief that we have to do everything on our own.

Sometimes strength isn't pushing through.

Sometimes it's making a different choice.

And sometimes, the bravest choice of all is reaching out for support with the things you've been carrying emotionally for far too long.

I wonder... what might change if you didn't have to carry it all on your own anymore?

Thank you to the lovely person who nominated me for the Telstra Business Awards.

I appreciate you.

It's great when people take the time to acknowledge the work I do.

It genuinely means a lot to know that something I've done has made enough of a difference for someone to think, "I'm going to nominate Jo."

So, thank you. It really is appreciated. 💜

Today wasn't the day I'd planned.

I woke up feeling sick, so I cancelled my appointments and spent most of the day in bed. A few years ago, I would have felt guilty. I would have pushed through, convinced myself I should keep going, and worried about letting people down.

Today was different.

I listened to what my body needed and gave myself permission to rest.

I used to think rest was something you earned. Once the work was finished. Once everyone else was looked after. Once you'd done enough.

The problem was, there was always something else to do.

For so many of us, slowing down feels uncomfortable. We feel guilty, lazy, or like we should be doing something more productive.

But when we're constantly in survival mode, our nervous system never really gets the chance to settle. We can become so used to being busy that we forget what it feels like to simply be.

I've learnt that rest isn't a reward.

It's a requirement.

Not because we've earned it, but because it's one of the ways we begin to reconnect with ourselves. Sometimes, when we stop pushing so hard, we create space for our body to heal and for ourselves to receive the clarity, opportunities and guidance we've been searching for.

I wonder... do you find it easy to rest, or do you feel like you have to earn it first?

One of the things I love most about the work I do is hearing what clients say afterwards.

This client first reached out to me, then decided not to go ahead. Two years later, she came back.

After her first session she said,

"I wish I'd done this sooner."

Those words have stayed with me.

They weren't about regret. They were about recognising how different life can feel when you finally decide you're ready.

Every person's journey is different, but hearing moments like this reminds me why I do what I do.
