We've opened our newly furbished Palliative Care Unit here at Wangaratta Private Hospital, providing a separate suite for patients to comfortably spend time with family at the end of their life.

The goal was to create a space that felt less clinical and more homely, where families can care for their loved ones in an environment that is supported by staff 24 hours a day. Read more 👇

Last Friday our team came together to show support for two of our wonderful team members - Vanessa and Stacey - and their fight with multiple sclerosis.

Staff and their families descended on Wangaratta Bowls Club for an evening of competitive lawn bowls, designed to raise awareness and show Vanessa and Stacey that the whole team at Wangaratta Private Hospital is behind them.

The cold autumn weather didn't deter the fun, with our nurses becoming particularly motivated when pizzas became involved! Thank you to everyone who attended to show solidarity and raise awareness.

For six months now, we’ve been doing our bit for the environment by donating unused containers to local schools, such as Yarrunga Primary’s art department.

Containers such as bowls, kidney dishes and measuring jugs are recycled to be used in the school’s art classes.

Our GP Liaison Officer Wendy visited Yarrunga Primary recently to drop off some donations and talk to their students about sustainability and the importance of reusing items for different purposes.

Our team at Wangaratta Private Hospital is very passionate about our sustainability program, which continues to expand as we identify opportunities around the hospital.

Wangaratta Private Hospital proudly joined the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the 16 Days of Activism.

One of our nursing students on placement, Skyla from Box Hill Institute, inspired us to take part in this important initiative. Thanks to her motivation, our staff and wider community came together to donate bags with essential provisions to support women and placed the filled bags at Bunnings to help those in need.

We celebrated Skyla’s leadership, along with the efforts of our team, with orange cupcakes, 1800Respect information packs, and meaningful conversations that built a deeper understanding of this year’s focus: Digital Abuse.
