We were excited to attend the ClubGRANTS presentation morning hosted at East Maitland Bowling Club recently! ๐Ÿ’œ

Club Maitland City and East Maitland Bowling Club awarded an amazing $278,945 in grant funding to local organisations, and we were very lucky to receive $10,000 to put towards our Playgroup. ๐Ÿ™Œ

This funding will help us keep providing fun activities and a welcoming space for local families to come together. Weโ€™re very grateful for the support! ๐Ÿฅฐ

And speaking of funโ€ฆ tomorrow is BOOK WEEK! ๐Ÿ“šโœจ

Our Playgroup runs every Thursday from 9:30โ€“11am at Maitland Presbyterian Church during school terms.

If youโ€™d like to join us tomorrow, come dressed as your favourite book character or bring along your favourite book. No pressure to dress up though, itโ€™s completely optional!

Weโ€™d love to see you there!

Communication creates possibility ๐Ÿ’ฌ

This Speech Pathology Week, weโ€™re celebrating how communication can help people connect, make choices, build confidence and be part of their community.

Communication looks different for everyone. It might be through talking, signing, gestures, pictures, writing or technology.

What matters is having a way to express yourself, be heard and take part in the things that matter to you.

Our Speech Pathologists work alongside people to find the communication tools and strategies that support their goals, dreams and aspirations. ๐Ÿ’œ

Because when communication is accessible, possibilities grow.

Happy Speech Pathology Week! ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ

Our Playgroup was recently treated to a very special visit from Mark and his wonderful crew from Maitland Fire Station! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿงฏ

The children loved exploring the fire truck, climbing aboard, discovering the equipment and, of course, wearing their very own firefighter hats. ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿš’๐Ÿšจ

But there was one clear favouriteโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ’ฆ THE FIRE HOSE! ๐Ÿ’ฆ

The children who wanted a turn were supported to hold the hose and spray the water, and there were some VERY proud little firefighters afterwards! ๐Ÿฅฐ

Visits like this are a wonderful opportunity for children to meet emergency services in a relaxed and familiar environment, helping make firefighters, uniforms, equipment and emergency vehicles feel a little less unfamiliar.

A HUGE thank you to Mark and the entire Maitland Fire Station crew for generously giving their time and for being so patient, welcoming and encouraging with every child. You helped create some very special memories for our children and families! ๐Ÿ’œ

And the fun doesnโ€™t stop here! We have three jam-packed weeks of exciting activities ahead:
๐Ÿ”ฌ This Thursday: Science Week
๐Ÿ“š Next week: Book Week
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ง The following week: Brilliant Blokes Day (Fatherโ€™s Day)

We hope to see you there 9:30 - 11 AM! ๐ŸŽ‰

Tony has been making fantastic progress towards his health and wellbeing goals through his weekly NDIS community supports! ๐Ÿ’œ

With the support of his team, Tony is getting out into the community each week to stay active, build his fitness and enjoy some fresh air. From local parks to walking tracks, these outings give Tony the opportunity to explore different environments, keep moving and work towards his healthy lifestyle goals.

These experiences are about more than just exercise. Theyโ€™re also about community participation, choice, connection and enjoyment. Itโ€™s wonderful to see Tony building a positive routine and engaging so well with his supports.

Keep up the great work, Tony! ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ‹๏ธ

We donโ€™t often use our platform to speak about political matters, but sometimes the decisions being made are simply too important not to share.

The Senate inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 has been extended until 14 August 2026, when the committee is due to report.

The proposed reforms are significant. They include changes to NDIS eligibility, the supports the Scheme funds, planning and funding arrangements, pricing and the powers available to the government and the NDIA.

At ConnectAbility, we believe people with disability must remain at the centre of decisions that affect their lives; with choice, control, dignity, independence and access to the right supports protected.

What can you doโ“
If you, your family member, a friend or someone you support relies on the NDIS, please consider taking action:
โœ”๏ธ Email the Senators who will help decide the Billโ€™s future.
โœ”๏ธ Contact your Federal MP and ask them to protect the principles of the NDIS.
โœ”๏ธ Visit your local MP or Senatorโ€™s office.
โœ”๏ธ Contact Opposition Leader Angus Taylor and ask him to oppose the Bill in its current form and support changes developed with people with disability.

Tell them who you are, where you live, why the NDIS matters to you and what you want protected. Every email, every phone call and every conversation helps ensure decision-makers hear directly from the people who will be affected.

Please stay informed. Please speak up. Every voice matters.

What a fantastic evening at the recent Susan Roskell Toy and Gift Drive Trivia Night!

A huge congratulations to our team, 'The Connectors', who took home the trivia trophy! ๐Ÿ†๐ŸŽ‰

While we're proud of the win, what made the night truly special was coming together to support a cause that means so much to us.

As a long-standing partner of the Susan Roskell Toy & Gift Drive, we've seen firsthand the joy these donated gifts bring to the children and families we support. Every Christmas is made that little bit more magical thanks to Todd, his incredible team of volunteers, and the generosity of our local community.

Thank you to everyone involved in making such a meaningful event possible. We're proud to continue supporting this wonderful initiative and the positive impact it has on so many families. ๐Ÿ’œ
