There are so many reasons to love your local library but the opportunity they provide to meet real life authors has to be one of my favourites.
Last week I trekked ‘across the mountain’ to Ferntree Gully Library to hear an author talk by Jenna Lo Bianco (Jenna Lo Bianco )
She is a wonderful fiction writer who sets her stories in Italy and came on my radar when she shared her personal experience of 160 rejections before landing a top 5 publisher book deal. She is a great inspiration and also a teacher of the Italian language who lives the lesson of never giving up. I hear you.

Wonderful night participating in a live recording of the popular ‘Emperors of Rome’ podcast with Dr Rhiannon Evans and Matt Smith. This was an extension of the Rome: Empire, Power, People course work I did at Melbourne Museum last month and yet another interesting and enlivening lecture about ancient and Italian history. I confess I am more than a little obsessed.
