We can help manage your or your family member’s medicines!
We take the medications our doctors prescribe to either manage a current ailment or to prevent a future complication of an ailment. In short, we take medicines to make our lives better either now or in the future. We only get this benefit if we take the medication correctly as it was prescribed. We know that up to half of all medicines are not taken correctly due to forgetfulness, confusion, cost, undesirable side effects and a multitude of other reasons. The concern with this is that the benefit of the medicine is lost generally resulting in a lower quality of life, either now, or in the future for many, many people in our community.

Our role as your pharmacist is to help you and your family get the best possible benefit from your medication. Whether you are having trouble remembering your tablets, experiencing a side effect, having issues with cost or are concerned about how a family member is taking their medications we have systems and know-how to help solve these issues.

One of these systems is the Websterpak. Your medications are presented to you packed into days of the week and times of the day. No more sorting through bottles and boxes to get your medications together. It takes away the concern and the possible confusion.

This is a FREE service for regular clients of our pharmacy for medications supplied by us. (Medication charges still apply)

It's National Diabetes Week, so it is timely to have a chat about this very dangerous and potentially debilitating condition. Diabetes is a big deal with very serious consequences and it's affecting more people than you might think.

Diabetes on the Rise

First off, let's talk about the basics. Diabetes happens when your body can't manage blood sugar levels properly. Did you know that over 1.7 million Australians have diabetes? And shockingly, about 500,000 of those people don't even know they have it yet. That's a lot of folks at risk without realizing it. And, even more surprisingly, the numbers are growing despite the fact that we now know more than we ever have about human health but we continue to lead lifestyles that lead to disease like diabetes

Why Undiagnosed Diabetes is a Big Problem

Being diagnosed with diabetes means you're getting the care and advice you need. But undiagnosed diabetes is tricky. Many people don't notice the symptoms or mistake them for something else. This delay in diagnosis can lead to serious health issues which are potentially avoidable because their blood sugar levels aren't being controlled.

The Risks We Need to Watch Out For

If diabetes isn't managed well, it can cause a whole host of problems. These include heart disease, nerve damage, kidney failure, blindness and amputations. Plus, it can significantly increase the risk of having a stroke or heart attack.

Why Early Detection Matters

Catching diabetes early is crucial. Regular check-ups can help prevent those nasty complications. Managing diabetes involves eating healthy, staying active, and taking any prescribed medications. And, of course, keeping an eye on your blood sugar levels regularly is key.

To make things easier for you, if you are a diagnosed diabetic we're giving away free glucometers during National Diabetes Week. Keeping track of your blood sugar at home can help you make better health decisions and get medical help when you need it. We can all do our part to raise awareness about diabetes and help those who have it. If you are over 40, are carrying a few spare kilos and could be eating a bit better it is worth you seeing your doctor to get checked for diabetes. Ultimately, early detection and good management leads to longer life span and longer health span. Let's reduce the impact of diabetes and help everyone live healthier lives.
