A great visual tool to assist children to learn breathing techniques

Feeling Stressed? Instead of following the typical prescribed strategy of ‘take a deep breath’, try square breathing to clear your mind and reset
Square breathing involves:

Gently inhaling through your nose for the count of 4 (inhale +1,2,3)
Hold breath for count of 4
(hold +1,2,3)
Gently exhale through your mouth for a count of 4 (exhale + 1,2,3)
Pause and hold for the count of 4 (hold + 1,2,3)
The visual image of the square helps to set an intention to regulate your breathing and let go of stress.
For kids, have your child follow the outline of the square with their finger to visually assist with slow and purposeful breathing.
