Enrolments are now open for Songbirds Term 3, with classes beginning the week of 20th July!

Songbirds is all about building confidence, creativity and friendships through singing, music and movement in a fun, supportive environment. No previous singing experience is needed—just a willingness to join in and have fun!

🐥 Cockatiels – Mondays | 4:15 pm
Perfect for younger primary-aged children who love to move, play and sing. This is our lively, energetic group where we learn through games and plenty of laughter!

🕊️ Turtle Doves – Thursdays | 4:00 pm
Designed for slightly older or more experienced singers who are ready for a few extra challenges while still having lots of fun together.

🪺 NEW! Rockin' Robins (Boys' Singing Group) – Wednesdays | 4:15 pm
A fun, welcoming group just for boys who enjoy singing, music, movement and making like-minded friends.

Still smiling after our Bards & Birds Winter Workshop. 💙❄️ I loved working with Fiddlesticks Performing Arts and Backyard Bards Gippsland for this day of creative chaos!

What a wonderful day it was.

There was singing, laughter, theatre games, creativity, face painting, colouring, teamwork, new friendships and so many moments of children stepping outside their comfort zones. Watching their confidence grow over the course of a single day is one of my favourite parts of what I do.

One thing that stood out to me was how willing the children were to encourage one another. Whether they were having a go at a new game, sharing ideas, or simply cheering each other on, there were so many lovely moments of kindness and support.

A huge thank you to all of the families who trusted us with their children, and to everyone who helped make the day run so smoothly. I'm also incredibly grateful to the amazing team who shared their talents and enthusiasm throughout the workshop—it truly was a collaborative effort.

Days like these remind me why I started Songbirds in the first place. While we certainly learn singing skills and performance techniques, my greatest hope is that every child leaves feeling a little more confident, a little more connected, and knowing that they belong.

Thank you for making our first Bards & Birds workshop such a special one. I have a feeling it won't be the last! 🐦🎭✨

🎭❄️ Bards & Birds is this Thursday! ❄️🎶

What a fantastic morning with our very first **Rockin' Robins** trial session! 🎶🐦💥

I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but the boys absolutely blew me away. They were engaged, curious, enthusiastic and so willing to jump in to every activity. There was singing, movement, rhythm, games, laughter and, most importantly, genuine connection through music.

One of my favourite moments was hearing comments like, *"This is so much fun!"* and *"I love this!"* before the session had even finished. It was wonderful to see how quickly they relaxed, encouraged each other and discovered that singing can be active, creative and something boys can really enjoy together.

Seeing the genuine excitement on their faces and the spark in their eyes as they encouraged one another, laughed together and threw themselves into every activity was such a joy. Days like today remind me exactly why I love creating these groups—not just to help children develop musical skills, but to build confidence, friendships and a place where they feel they belong.

Thank you to the families who came along and trusted me with your boys this morning. I left feeling incredibly excited about what's possible.

Given today's success, I'm now looking at putting together an ongoing **Rockin' Robins** group. If you have a boy in Prep - Grade 2 who loves music, enjoys being part of a group, or would benefit from a fun, genuinely supportive place to connect with other boys, I'd love to hear from you.

And before you ask... no, they don't have to be great at singing... *yet!* 😄 They just need to be willing to give it a go. The confidence and skills will come. 🌟

I can't wait to see where the Rockin' Robins take flight next! 💙🎵

🎙️ What a special day!

Today, a small group of Songbirds had the incredible opportunity to spend the day in a professional recording studio, learning about the recording process and experiencing what it's like to create music in a real studio environment.

I couldn't be prouder of the girls. They embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, encouraged one another, listened carefully, and represented Songbirds with kindness and maturity. The studio team commented several times on how respectful, responsive and well-behaved they were, which made me so proud.

A huge thank you to Jayne from Fiddlesticks Performing Arts for helping make this opportunity possible, and to Steve and "Radar" (the original Soggy Dog!) from Soggy Dog Recording Studios Upwey for welcoming us so warmly and making the day such a positive and memorable experience.

We can't wait to share the finished recording with everyone! 🎶💜

Rockin' Robins is off to a flying start! 🎶🐦‍🔥🥁

Our holiday trial session is nearly full, with only a few places remaining.

Designed for Prep–Grade 2 boys, Rockin' Robins offers a playful alternative to a traditional choir experience, with singing, rhythm, movement, games and creative musical adventures.

If you know a boy who loves music but might not see himself in a typical choir setting, feel free to get in touch for more information. 🎶

Singing together is so much more than singing.

As a singing teacher, of course I care about pitch, rhythm and vocal technique. But when I look around the room, those things rarely feel like the most important part.

The friendships. The confidence. The laughter. The courage to join in. The feeling of belonging.

Years from now, I don't think these children will remember whether every note was perfect. I hope they'll remember that they sang together. ❤️🎶

Back to the practice room!

Next week I have a lesson with a very special Australian singer, and I'm feeling equal parts excited and nervous. 🌟

Retraining my voice has reminded me just how vulnerable learning can feel. There's a lot I still want to improve, and that's both humbling and inspiring.
