Term 3 is officially done and dusted! 🕊️🎶

What a huge term of growth and learning — for both me and my singing students.

I have thoroughly enjoyed working with, laughing with and supporting each and every one of these little superstars. It has been so lovely watching them grow in confidence, find their voices, support one another and become such a gorgeous little singing community. 💛

I can’t wait to see what we get up to in Term 4, and to watch them continue to grow — both in their singing and in the friendships and connections they’re building along the way.

For now though… happy holidays, Songbirds! You’ve earned them! 🕊️✨

We spent some time in our end-of-term celebration Songbirds classes this week talking about how Saturday’s performance actually felt.

There was excitement, pride and confidence — but also nerves, worry and a bit of fear! And I loved that the kids were so open about all of it.

Performing can feel really vulnerable, especially when you're little. Every one of these kids got up there, gave it their best shot and supported their friends while they did the same.

I think they've come out the other side an even more supportive little singing community. ❤️🎶

Yesterday, 22 eager young singers did something pretty brave!

They stepped up onto a stage — many of them for the very first time — in front of a big audience, and they smiled, laughed, danced and, most importantly, sang their little hearts out! 🎶❤️

And they had FUN!

I am so, so proud of every single one of them. Not because everything had to be perfect, but because they got up there, gave it a go, supported each other and shared all the wonderful energy and personality that I get to see from them every week.

Last year I started with just six little singers performing together. Yesterday there were 22 of them up there. 🥹

What an awesome bunch of kids. ❤️🎶

A lovely little read about why singing feels so good 🎶💛

So much of what we do at Songbirds is about more than learning songs — it’s about connection, confidence, belonging and the simple joy of making music together. There’s some interesting research exploring why singing together can feel so good, too! 🐦🎶

Singing does something measurable to your body and brain, whether you are alone, harmonising in a choir, or singing with your friends at a karaoke bar.

How fortunate am I that I get to spend my week singing, laughing and making music with kids - including this incredible, dynamic and passionate bunch 💛🎶

Just some of my beautiful Songbirds here, getting ready for our upcoming concert. 😎

One of my favourite things about these groups is watching the kids support and encourage each other. I especially love seeing my older singers naturally modelling kindness, confidence and encouragement for our youngest members — cheering each other on, having a go, and making sure everyone feels like they belong.

Such a special little community of young people, and I feel very lucky to get to make music with them 🥰

Went along to see Sweeney Todd by Ghostlight Theatre last night — one of my absolute favourite musical-com… operas?! Such a rich and sumptuous musical score 🎭🩸🎶

The cast did a phenomenal job of producing such a high-quality show and are seriously punching above their weight. The production team have done an incredible job too, with some VERY cool effects… if you know, you know! 👀🍗💺

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, definitely go along and support some fantastic local theatre!

A little heads-up for families: Sweeney Todd definitely has a horror/dark theme, so I’d probably suggest 10+, but it really depends on the individual child and what they’re comfortable with. Feel free to reach out if you’re considering taking your kids and aren’t sure!
