It was established in 1975, initially to develop programs and provide support to individuals with a disability and their families and to assist other people in the community who were disadvantaged or under-privileged. Mpower is a registered NDIS Provider. The agency is based in Warrnambool and provides a range

of support services to the Shires of Moyne, Corangamite, Southern Grampians, Glenelg and the City of Warrnambool. Mpower currently employs 90+ experienced and qualified staff and offers a range of programs to a client-base in excess of 1220. Funding is received from government sources, primarily the Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and donations from philanthropic trusts.

Mpower’s Saturday Recreation Team had a fantastic day filled with fun and adventure! The day kicked off with a delicious fish & chips lunch, followed by a special visit to the local fire station, and wrapped up with an enjoyable movie.
Everyone had an amazing time, and we’d like to extend a huge thank-you to our local firefighters for their warm welcome and a fascinating tour of the station. Your enthusiasm and generosity made the experience extra special for our team.

Are you an aspiring board director aged between 25 and 40 and based in South West Victoria?
We’ve partnered with South West TAFE, South West Healthcare and Brophy Family & Youth Services to offer The Observership Program. This initiative provides governance training and practical experience in not-for-profit board leadership over 12 months.
You’ll receive training from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and The Ethics Centre, while also building your professional network across Victoria with other observers.

Background information
The Observership Program facilitates the involvement of young, talented and energetic people in a structured experience on non-profit and government-appointed Boards.
Each Observer is paired with an organisation for 12-months. During that time, Observers attend board/committee meetings as non-voting members and learn fundamental principles and functions of not-for-profit boards, the roles of board members, financial processes and other governance priorities.
Observers receive training for not-for-profit directors delivered by AICD and The Ethics Centre as well as networking opportunities with fellow and former participants in the Program.
The Program provides first-hand exposure to the role of the board, its decision-making and operations as well as targeted training and mentorship designed to give Observers important skills to bring to the boardroom.
Applicants need to:
Be based in the South West Region of Victoria
Be aged between 25 and 45 years old
Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
Have either no prior board experience or little or no formal governance training.
Have capacity and support to attend all board meetings and 10+ training sessions throughout 2027.

Our Kidz in the Community (KitC) adventure to Budj Bim was a fantastic day of exploration, discovery, and connection with nature. With two participants supported by one dedicated staff member, the group enjoyed exploring the fascinating lava caves at Byaduk and taking in the natural beauty of Budj Bim National Park. Throughout the day, participants were encouraged to ask questions, investigate their surroundings, and challenge themselves in a safe and supportive environment. The smaller group setting allowed for personalised support and meaningful engagement, helping participants build confidence, develop independence, and create lasting memories.

A very special shout out to our very own Kim, who recently competed in the 2026 City of Warrnambool Eisteddfod.
Kim took part in the Open All Abilities Category, competing alongside some talented dancers, and we are thrilled to share that she won her category!
Reflecting on the experience, Kim said that everyone involved in the Eisteddfod was so supportive and encouraging that she didn’t feel scared at all. She spoke highly of the welcoming atmosphere and the encouragement shown by fellow participants, organisers and supporters.
Kim absolutely loved the experience and encourages anyone who is thinking about participating to give it a go.

Our recent Kids in the Community Holiday Program trip to Halls Gap Zoo was filled with adventure, learning and plenty of smiles.
With the support of dedicated 1:1 staff, participants are able to confidently take part in every aspect of the day—from the journey to Halls Gap, enjoying lunch in the beautiful surrounds of the Grampians, and exploring the many animal exhibits throughout the zoo.
The individualised support provided throughout the day ensured that the participant felt safe, comfortable, and encouraged to engage in new experiences at their own pace. Having consistent support meant opportunities could be tailored to their interests, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the animal encounters and enjoy meaningful interactions with both animals and staff.
Days like these highlight the importance of 1:1 support within our programs. By providing personalised encouragement, reassurance, and assistance when needed, participants are able to build confidence, increase independence, develop social connections, and access community experiences that might otherwise feel overwhelming.

Meet Mpower’s Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner Lead, Zoe!
We are excited to introduce Zoe, who brings a strong background in early intervention and a passion for supporting participants, families, carers and support teams. With a practical, holistic and participant-centred approach, her focus is on understanding the whole person — not just the behaviour. She works alongside families and support networks to identify realistic strategies that can be used in everyday life. Behaviour support is not about “fixing” a person. It is about understanding what someone may be communicating through their behaviour, building new skills, and creating supportive environments where they can thrive. Through the program, participants may work towards goals such as improving communication, building emotional regulation skills, increasing tolerance for change, reducing behaviours of concern, and creating more consistency across home, school, work and support settings. We are proud to be growing a behaviour support service that is collaborative, evidence-informed, practical and genuinely focused on making a positive difference.
