Your jaw might be causing your headaches.

The muscles of the jaw, including the big one at your temple, are all connected to the same nerve that drives migraines. When your jaw is tense, that nerve gets irritated. When that nerve is irritated, headaches follow.

Check this right now: are your teeth touching? They should not be at rest. Upper and lower teeth should be slightly apart. If they are pressed together, your jaw is under constant load, constant muscle tension..

This is a fixable problem. Next time you’re in, ask Bridget about a comprehensive jaw assessment as part of your headache care.

Meet Jane, our newest member to the team!

Jane is a psychotherapist offering a safe, supportive space for individuals seeking

During her years as a registered nurse, she worked extensively with children, young people and adults in both the hospital and community settings - an experience which deepens her current practice.

Outside of work Jane has a passion for music, theatre, travel, dance, and literature.

Psychological resilience and flexibility are key indicators of emotional wellbeing and overall mental health.

When people struggle to adapt to stress, fall apart easily, or become rigid in their thinking and behaviour, it may point to difficulties with what psychologists sometimes refer to as “ego strength.”

Developing stronger emotional regulation skills can help people respond to life with greater calm, stability, and flexibility.

Healthy self-esteem is not about feeling good about yourself all the time. It is about having a stable, balanced, and grounded sense of who you are.

One that can hold both your strengths and your limitations without collapsing or becoming inflated.

Agency refers to your capacity to act with intention: to make decisions, initiate change, and influence the direction of your life.

When this is present, you experience yourself as an active participant in your own life.

When it is lacking, life can feel as though it is simply happening to you.

Personal continuity refers to your ability to experience yourself as the same person across time. That is, someone with a past, a present, and a future that all belong to you. When this sense is intact, you feel more grounded, coherent, and at ease within yourself. When it is disrupted, you may feel confused about who you are, disconnected from your body, or uncertain about where your life is going.

Interpersonal safety is the foundation of mental health. It refers to a deep, often non-verbal sense of feeling safe in yourself, with others, and in the world. Without this, it becomes difficult to trust, to connect, and to rely on others for support.

What Is Interpersonal Safety?
Interpersonal safety has been described in many ways across psychology and psychotherapy: secure attachment, basic trust, ontological security, and epistemic trust.

While these terms differ slightly, they all point toward the same underlying experience: a basic sense of feeling okay. Okay in yourself, okay with others, and okay in the world.

Mental health is not simply the absence of symptoms like anxiety or depression. It is better understood as a person’s overall capacity to live with a sense of meaning, connection and self understanding.

From this perspective, therapy is not just about feeling better, but about becoming more aware of yourself and others, and more able to engage with life in a fuller way.
