There's something about the end of winter...

Many people start saying the same things:
"I'm feeling tired."
"My joints are stiffer."
"I can't wait for some warmer weather."

Traditional Chinese Medicine has always recognised that the changing seasons can influence how we feel. Winter is traditionally a time for rest and conserving energy, making the transition into spring a good opportunity to refocus on your health and wellbeing.

Sometimes the best place to start isn't with a complete lifestyle overhaul - it's simply taking a little more care of yourself as the seasons change.

If you feel you need extra support. Feel free to contact us or visit https://www.warrnamboolacupuncture.com.au/ to book an appointment online.

Some people describe brain fog as feeling mentally cloudy, struggling to concentrate, forgetting simple things, or feeling like they're just not thinking as clearly as usual.

Brain fog isn't a medical diagnosis, but it can occur alongside poor sleep, stress, hormonal changes, recovery from illness, nutritional factors and a range of other health conditions.

Our latest blog explores:
• What brain fog is
• Common contributing factors
• When to seek medical advice
• How Traditional Chinese Medicine views brain fog from an individualised perspective
• Simple lifestyle habits that may support overall wellbeing

Understanding what may be contributing to brain fog is an important first step towards finding the right support.

Have you noticed the tiny seeds or beads that some people wear on their ears?

Known as ear seeds, they're becoming increasingly popular on social media, but they've actually been used as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine and auricular (ear) acupuncture for many years.

Ear seeds are small pellets placed on specific points of the outer ear. They're designed to provide gentle, continuous stimulation between appointments and are commonly used as part of an individualised treatment plan.

While you may have seen online claims that ear seeds can "cure" everything from stress to weight loss, the reality is much more balanced. Their use depends on your individual circumstances, and the scientific evidence continues to evolve.

In our latest blog, we explore:
- What ear seeds are
- How they're used in Traditional Chinese Medicine
- The history of auricular acupuncture
- What current research tells us
- Why many people choose to include them as part of their care

If you've ever been curious about ear seeds, our latest article separates the facts from the social media hype.

PCOS has officially been renamed PMOS — Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.

The updated name reflects a broader understanding that the condition may involve hormonal, metabolic and reproductive health factors, rather than only ovarian cysts.

The name of PCOS may be changing… but in Chinese Medicine, the approach has always been about treating the person, not just the diagnosis.

Many people are surprised to learn that not everyone with PCOS has ovarian cysts, which is one reason experts have questioned whether the original name accurately reflects the condition.

Regardless of what it is called, the symptoms can still have a significant impact on day-to-day life:
• Irregular or absent cycles
• Acne
• Weight fluctuations
• Fatigue
• Fertility challenges
• Mood changes
• Excess hair growth
• Digestive symptoms

In Chinese Medicine, treatment is based on the individual presentation and underlying pattern of symptoms.

Two people with the same diagnosis may receive different treatments depending on their presentation, health history and treatment goals.

Treatment may focus on supporting:
• Menstrual cycle regulation
• Ovulation and reproductive health
• Stress management
• Sleep and energy levels
• Digestive and metabolic function
• Overall wellbeing

While the medical terminology may evolve over time, the goal in Chinese Medicine remains the same: supporting the person as a whole, rather than focusing solely on a diagnosis label.

If you’d like to learn more about how Chinese Medicine may support symptoms associated with PCOS/PMOS, feel free to get in touch or book an appointment via the link in bio.

It certainly gets fresh down here!

A little reminder from me… keep your head and neck warm ❄️

It might sound simple, but cold weather and wind can cause the muscles around the neck and shoulders to tighten, often leading to stiffness, headaches, and tension.

A scarf and beanie can make a big difference during the colder months, especially on windy days.

From a Chinese medicine perspective, cold and wind are considered external factors that can enter the body through exposed areas such as the neck and upper back. Keeping these areas warm may help prevent tension, stiffness, and the early onset of colds.

If you are experiencing ongoing neck pain, headaches, or muscle tension this winter, acupuncture and Chinese medicine may help support circulation, reduce tightness, and promote relaxation.

Stay warm and take care of yourself this leading into and during winter.
