If you've looked across the Granite Belt this week, you've probably noticed the haze.
The smoke drifting through the region is largely the result of planned hazard reduction burns.
While the smoke can be a little inconvenient, these carefully managed burns are an important part of caring for our bush and helping reduce the risk of more intense bushfires in the months ahead.
One of the most remarkable things about the Australian bush is its resilience. Before long, tiny green shoots will emerge through the ash, native grasses will return, and birds and wildlife will once again fill these spaces with life.
The bush has evolved with fire for thousands of years. When fire is used thoughtfully, it's not just about protection but also part of the natural cycle of renewal.
