The Queensland Turf Producers Association (QTPA), now trading as "Turf Queensland" commenced in March 2001 and, believed it was timely to develop a Strategic Development Plan (2003/2006) to support, in a sustainable and professional manner, the next three-year growth of the industry in this state. As is the case with all associations the development of member benefits was paramount and addressing

Sales Training for Turf Growers

We’re bringing Brad Jensen from Dynamo Selling to The Greek Club for a practical, turf focused sales training session.

Brad brings more than 20 years’ experience across sales training and we’re working with him to tailor this session specifically to the conversations turf businesses have every day.

We’ll look at how to ask better questions, understand what your customer actually wants, handle objections, communicate the value of natural turf and move the conversation beyond price per square metre.

The session will also draw on findings from the industry's latest research into the Attitudes and Usage of natural turf, helping turn that research into practical messages you can actually use with customers.

TURN INSIGHT INTO STRONGER SALES

Strong sales capability is an important part of building a resilient turf business.

Understanding what customers value, responding to changing market conditions and confidently communicating the benefits of natural turf can help businesses convert more enquiries, strengthen revenue and plan for future growth.

Join Turf Queensland for a free, practical sales training workshop designed for turf growers and their teams.

The session will draw on findings from the levy funded Usage, Attitudes and Contribution of Natural Turf research, which found that more than one million Australians are actively comparing turf options. While natural turf begins with a strong preference advantage, synthetic products are often more successful at converting customers during the decision making process.

This interactive workshop will help growers and their staff:

✅ Better understand customer attitudes and purchasing decisions
✅ Communicate the value and benefits of natural turf
✅ Build rapport and hold stronger sales conversations
✅ Respond confidently to questions and objections
✅ Convert more enquiries into customers

This workshop supports growers and their staff to build practical business capability, respond to changing customer attitudes and strengthen the long term resilience and performance of their businesses.

We’re excited to announce that the Turf Queensland Industry Social & AGM is back!

Join us at The Greek Club on Friday, 9 October from 6pm for a great night to catch up with other growers and industry, hear about the work Turf Queensland has been doing over the past 12 months, and enjoy plenty of good food, drinks and conversation.

Tickets are $130 per person, with Turf Queensland covering the balance of the cost for the evening.

We’ve also made the decision to move our planned Sustainability Field Day to next year. There have been a lot of industry events packed into a relatively short period this year, and rather than asking growers to attend yet another event, we think it makes sense to give it the space it deserves in 2027.

For now, we’d love you to come along to the Industry Social & AGM. If you’ve been before, you’ll know it’s always a good night. If you haven’t been before, this is the year to come along.

A great example of what industry connection and collaboration is all about.

Turf Queensland President Amanda Smyth from Wild Horse Turf recently joined TurfNSW to share her journey as a first generation turf grower, her experience as a woman in the turf industry, and the path that has led her to taking on the role of President of Turf Queensland.

Opportunities like this give growers the chance to hear different perspectives, share experiences and learn from others who understand the challenges and opportunities of running a turf business.

Amanda’s story is a great reminder of the value of bringing people together and creating opportunities for connection across the wider turf industry.

Please be advised that the National Fire Ant Eradication Program has officially transitioned a number of locations from suppression treatment areas into eradication treatment areas.

If your property is located within one of the new transition areas, you should immediately cease using fire ant treatments containing insect growth regulators (IGRs), including Distance and Engage products, where these products are currently being applied.

This is important to avoid potential breaches of Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) permit conditions.

Growers should continue responding to suspect ant activity using approved direct nest treatment products, including:
• Advion
• Rifaway
• Fipronil via direct nest injection
