THIS ONE COULD BE INTERESTING…

If you could permanently freeze your body at ONE age…

what age would you choose?

You’d still live a normal-length life and gain all the wisdom and experience…

but physically, your body would remain that age.

What age are you choosing... and WHY?

Go. 👇

WOULD YOU CONSIDER AI A FRIEND?

Seriously.

Not just a tool you use to write an email or answer a question.

A friend.

Because apparently… some people already do.

A fascinating new 2026 survey found that 27% of adult internet users surveyed in the US have used AI for social or emotional interaction.

And of those people, almost 1 in 3 said they consider their AI chatbot a FRIEND.

Even more fascinating…

39% said AI understands them better than most people.

Think about that for a moment.

A machine that never gets tired of listening.

Never interrupts you.

Is available at 2am.

Remembers the context of your conversations.

Doesn’t roll its eyes when you tell the same story again.

And can seemingly talk to you about almost anything.

But…

Is that friendship?

Or is it simply an incredibly convincing simulation of friendship?

And here’s the question I’m REALLY interested in:

If talking to AI makes a lonely person genuinely feel less lonely… does it matter that the “friend” isn’t human?

YES or NO?

What’s harder for you?

Saying “I love you”
or
Saying “I’m sorry”?

Just pick one.

What actually IS love? ❤️

Is it a feeling?

Is it chemistry?

Is it loyalty?

Is it choosing the same person over and over again?

Is it feeling safe with someone?

Is it being completely known… and still accepted?

Or is love less about how someone makes us feel, and more about how we choose to treat them when life isn’t easy?

I think most of us grow up with a very romantic idea of love.

But the older we get, the more complicated the word becomes.

Sometimes love is exciting.

Sometimes it’s calm.

Sometimes it’s forgiveness.

Sometimes it’s patience.

Sometimes it’s telling the truth when the truth is uncomfortable.

Sometimes it’s simply staying present when it would be easier to withdraw.

So tonight I’m curious:

How would YOU define love in one sentence?

Not a dictionary definition.

Your definition.

On the weekend, I married my best friend!

Like a big ray of sunshine in my life, Shak brings love, happiness, honesty and truth, fun, hope and calm.

I love her patience, her softly spoken voice, and her zest for life.

⚰️ Have you ever been to someone’s funeral…

and suddenly realised you hadn’t seen them or spoken to them in ages? Maybe you could have contacted them more or spent some greater quality time.

We’re very good at telling people how much they meant to us after they’re gone.

Maybe we should get better at telling them while they’re still here.

Who have you been meaning to call?

Don’t comment their name.

Call them. The time is now ❤️

SUNSHINE ☀️

Last night I asked a ridiculously simple question:

“What’s ONE tiny thing that instantly improves your mood?”

I wasn’t expecting the answers to be so one-sided.

But over and over again people said:

SUNSHINE.

Which got me thinking…

Have we become so frightened of the sun that we’ve forgotten our bodies actually need it?

Now before everyone throws their SPF50 at me... I’m absolutely NOT suggesting we go outside and bake ourselves until we’re burnt. 😂

We know excessive UV exposure damages skin etc...

But there’s another side to this story.

Sunlight is our major natural source of vitamin D.

And here’s something I think a lot of people misunderstand:

Vitamin D doesn’t actually come FROM the sun.

When UVB from sunlight reaches exposed skin, it triggers a chemical reaction in our skin that ultimately allows our bodies to produce vitamin D.

Vitamin D is incredibly important for maintaining healthy bones and muscles.

And then I stumbled across a fascinating study.

Researchers followed 29,518 Swedish women for around 20 YEARS.

They found that the women who avoided sun exposure had a significantly higher rate of death from all causes than the women with the highest sun exposure habits.

Now...important bit... that doesn’t prove sunshine itself made people live longer. It was an observational study, and there could be other differences between people who spend time outdoors and people who don’t.

But it certainly makes the conversation interesting.

Because perhaps the answer isn’t:

SUN = BAD

or

SUN = GOOD

Perhaps, like so many things in health, it’s about balance.

In Australia especially, that’s important.

Cancer Council recommends sun protection when the UV Index reaches 3 or above, because excessive UV exposure absolutely does increase skin cancer risk.

But they also acknowledge something equally important:

UV radiation from the sun is our best natural source of vitamin D.

And for most Australians, regular incidental outdoor exposure is enough to maintain adequate vitamin D.

So maybe we don’t need to fear sunshine.

Maybe we need to respect it.

Get outside.
Move your body.
Feel the warmth.
See daylight.
Enjoy being outdoors.

And when the UV is high... protect your skin.

Which brings me back to all those answers last night…

Why does sunshine make so many of us FEEL better almost instantly?

Forget vitamin D for a moment.

What does sunshine actually do to your mood?

☀️ Do you notice a genuine difference in yourself on a beautiful sunny day compared with a grey one?

WIT’S END 🥵

Have you ever reached it?

Have you noticed Bentley Wellness has become a lot more active online recently?

There’s a reason for it.

As you know, these days I’m doing my Master’s degree, and a lot of what I’m studying revolves around something that has fascinated me for years:

Human behaviour.

Why do we make the decisions we make?

Why can incredibly capable people sometimes make terrible decisions?

What happens to our judgement when we’re tired, stressed, angry, overwhelmed or simply… done?

Which brings me to a fascinating case I’m studying at the moment.

In 2010, a JetBlue flight attendant named Steven Slater was working a flight from Pittsburgh to New York.

The aircraft had landed at JFK when things came to a head following a confrontation involving a passenger who got up while the aircraft was still taxiing. The seatbelt sign was still on and the passenger was fussing around in the overhead lockers trying to get his bag. Slater went back to sort it out, and the passengers bag hit Slater on the head.

And then something extraordinary happened.

Slater got onto the aircraft PA system.

He unleashed a profanity-filled farewell, essentially announced that after years in the industry he was DONE…

grabbed 2 beers from the galley…

opened an emergency exit…

deployed the evacuation slide…

slid down it…

and went home.

Police later arrested him.

Now obviously, deploying an emergency slide and walking off your aircraft isn’t exactly an employee wellbeing strategy I’d recommend. 😂

But the case has got me thinking about something much bigger.

Did Steven Slater reach his wit’s end?

And what actually IS our wit’s end?

Is there a point where stress accumulates for so long that one seemingly insignificant event becomes the final straw?

We often describe people as having suddenly “snapped”.

But did they really snap suddenly?

Or were there 100 smaller things happening beforehand that nobody noticed?

Maybe that’s why the expression “the straw that broke the camel’s back” has survived for so long.

The final straw isn’t necessarily very heavy.

It’s everything already on the camel’s back that makes it matter.

And that brings me to today’s question:

Have YOU ever reached your wit’s end?

A point where you genuinely thought:

“That’s it. I can’t do this anymore.”

What happened?

Did you explode?

Walk away?

Make a huge life decision?

Or somehow pull yourself back from the edge?

And here’s an even stranger question…

We talk about rock bottom as though it’s the lowest a person can go.

But is there a level below rock bottom?

I’m genuinely interested in people’s experiences with this one.

You don’t need to share anything you don’t want to, but if you’ve ever reached your wit’s end, what did it teach you?

Have you ever bought a multivitamin… and secretly hoped it would just fix your life?

I think most of us have done some version of this.

We buy the vitamins.

Start taking the supplement.

Join the gym.

Buy the water bottle.

Download the meditation app.

Throw out the chocolate.

And somewhere in the back of our mind we think…

“Right. NOW I’m going to be healthy.”

But what actually IS good health?

Because I’m increasingly convinced that you can’t separate the health of the body from the health of the mind.

You can eat beautifully and exercise every day…

But what if you’re constantly stressed?

What if you barely sleep?

What if you hate your job?

What if you’re lonely?

What if your internal dialogue tears you to pieces every day?

And the opposite is probably true as well.

You can meditate, think positively and work on yourself psychologically…

But your body still needs to move.

It needs decent food.

It needs sleep.

It needs recovery.

Maybe the “secret” to good health is disappointingly unexciting.

There isn’t one thing.

It’s the relationship between all the little things.

How we eat.

How we move.

How we sleep.

How we handle stress.

How we speak to ourselves.

Who we surround ourselves with.

Whether we have something meaningful to get out of bed for.

And perhaps most importantly…

whether we can actually do these things consistently without needing to do them perfectly.

A multivitamin might have its place.

But it can’t exercise for you.

It can’t put you to bed.

It can’t repair a relationship.

It can’t make you put your phone down.

And unfortunately, I’ve never seen one that comes with 30 minutes of walking inside the bottle.

So here’s today’s Bentley Wellness question:

If you could only improve ONE area of your health right now...physical OR psychological...what would make the biggest difference to your life?

I’m really interested to see what people say.
