⭐️ June is Scoliosis Awareness Month ⭐️
Scoliosis is a sideways bending of the spine, often shaped like an "S" or "C" and is generally first noticed in childhood and adolescence during growth spurts. While it is rarely painful in young people, it can lead to spinal changes, discomfort and long-term degeneration if left unchecked.
That's why early detection is so important. In some cases, scoliosis may have a more serious underlying cause, so having it assessed by a trained professional is essential. All of our clinicians at EH are qualified to assess scoliosis and work closely with the team at ScoliCare for second opinions and bracing if required. 🤝
It is particularly important to diagnose scoliosis before skeletal maturity (before your kids stop growing) as growth spurts can be a time where scoliosis progresses, but also the ability of bracing to work is decreased once fully grown.
➡️ If you've noticed any changes in posture or asymmetry, don't hesitate to contact the clinic or click the link in our bio to learn more about scoliosis.
