So Birdy, what is PAWS in July really about it???? 🧐
We had a lovely community call today and I noticed that because this isn't a training, or obedience or sport club space...people are a bit unsure what PAWS in July will be really about.
Well, the short answer is:
✨To increase your capacity for joy and wellbeing with your dog.
Boom. That's it. Mic drop. 😂🎤💃✌️
I don't care if you are in dog sports, have dogs companions and pets, are a dog professional or a dog trainer.
Every single person who has a dog benefits from more joy and a deeper, more intimate relationship with their dog.
It will benefit whatever you are doing. Whatever you chose to do with your dog or whatever challenges you are facing (e.g. raising a teenage working line dog, going through separation anxiety, newly adopted dog, a dog you have to retire and look for a new outlet, just to have more fun and laugh more...), the program is designed to enrich your lives with your dog.
The PAWS formula is based on quite a fundamental psychological concepts (e.g. mindfulness, growth mindset, resilience based strategies, positive psychology, behavioural science).
My background is clinical psychology and most people understand these psychology based concepts super quick.
BUT.
A gigantic BUT if I may...
Not many are able by themselves to really make these concepts part of their daily habit and hence often miss out.
There is a reason I chose dogs (not just because I think they are amazing 😉) and 28 days.
It's because
- you already love dogs (e.g. dogs are part of your identity, you don't need to change anything or reinvent yourself so no conflict with your self image),
- dogs structure you which makes it easy to link it with new behaviours that are fun and repetitive. This is a very fun and efficient way of learning new habits over 4 weeks,
dogs give you nature-connectedness which is a core human need to function and I just show you how you can enhance your experience
- dogs can access a side in you not many humans can. So they bypass a lot of coping mechanism.
-this is a dog space where it isn't about performance. This is about living YOUR best life with your dog. Like my dog and I are obsessed with climbing our gigantic mulch pile in the garden and hiding balls to sniff out. It gives me belly laughs like nothing else. Also super cool if you are have titled your dog many times. Whatever makes you and your dog happy! Everyone here is welcome.
So its easy peasy. Want more joy, connection and wellbeing with your dog? Join us.

Much love,
