Look what we found this morning 🤩🍄
I grew up with a lot of fairy tales around Amanita Muscaria. 🥰
Part of what I love about PAWS is that dogs take us outside. They let us experience things.
In the upcoming PAWS in July lecture in Skool I will talk also about how nature- connectedness is a core human need…and also how important it is to have a sense of awe and wonder for our wellbeing and resilience and the role dogs play in it.
There is so much untapped knowledge and so many experiences available that dog training often overlooks.
Have a lovely, magical day,
Birdy & Pax

So Birdy, what is PAWS in July really about it???? 🧐
We had a lovely community call today and I noticed that because this isn't a training, or obedience or sport club space...people are a bit unsure what PAWS in July will be really about.
Well, the short answer is:
✨To increase your capacity for joy and wellbeing with your dog.
Boom. That's it. Mic drop. 😂🎤💃✌️
I don't care if you are in dog sports, have dogs companions and pets, are a dog professional or a dog trainer.
Every single person who has a dog benefits from more joy and a deeper, more intimate relationship with their dog.
It will benefit whatever you are doing. Whatever you chose to do with your dog or whatever challenges you are facing (e.g. raising a teenage working line dog, going through separation anxiety, newly adopted dog, a dog you have to retire and look for a new outlet, just to have more fun and laugh more...), the program is designed to enrich your lives with your dog.
The PAWS formula is based on quite a fundamental psychological concepts (e.g. mindfulness, growth mindset, resilience based strategies, positive psychology, behavioural science).
My background is clinical psychology and most people understand these psychology based concepts super quick.
BUT.
A gigantic BUT if I may...
Not many are able by themselves to really make these concepts part of their daily habit and hence often miss out.
There is a reason I chose dogs (not just because I think they are amazing 😉) and 28 days.
It's because
- you already love dogs (e.g. dogs are part of your identity, you don't need to change anything or reinvent yourself so no conflict with your self image),
- dogs structure you which makes it easy to link it with new behaviours that are fun and repetitive. This is a very fun and efficient way of learning new habits over 4 weeks,
dogs give you nature-connectedness which is a core human need to function and I just show you how you can enhance your experience
- dogs can access a side in you not many humans can. So they bypass a lot of coping mechanism.
-this is a dog space where it isn't about performance. This is about living YOUR best life with your dog. Like my dog and I are obsessed with climbing our gigantic mulch pile in the garden and hiding balls to sniff out. It gives me belly laughs like nothing else. Also super cool if you are have titled your dog many times. Whatever makes you and your dog happy! Everyone here is welcome.
So its easy peasy. Want more joy, connection and wellbeing with your dog? Join us.

Much love,
Birdy & Pax (who is snoring his head off as he was king of the mulch pile again this arvo 😂🪵🏔️)

Try this lazy hack to improve your wellbeing with your dog 💛
Do this before your day starts:
Before emails.
Before work.
Before the world starts asking things of us.
A few minutes outside can do a lot.
This lazy hack is about standing barefoot outside while absorbing the sun on your face. Most of you are outside with your dogs anyways, so why not enhance it?
Use it to become healthier, calmer and more grounded.
💛 Morning light helps regulate our circadian rhythm.
💛Time in nature can calm the nervous system, especially if we ground ourselves and touch the earth.
💛Dogs remind us to slow down, notice, and return to the present moment.
And totally embrace who you are in the moment without making life complicated (hence the bathrobe, my puffer jacket that smells of dog slobber and treats and has lots of balls and a tug stored away, crazy hair and general feral creature vibes 😜)
Neuroscientist Robert Sapolsky often speaks about how humans are one of the few species capable of turning on a stress response simply by thinking about the future or replaying the past. Meanwhile, the dog beside us is usually just investigating a smell, enjoying the sun, or rolling in the grass.
Chronic stress can have significant effects on the brain and body over time.
Maybe that’s one of the everyday gifts our dogs offer:
A reminder to come back to right now. Authentic but connected to life.
Tiny ritual. Big impact. With feral vibes in my case 😜
Much love,
Birdy

Time to PAWS…✨
P = Pause
A = Appreciate
W = Wonder Breath
S = Soften & Share
Take 30 seconds.
✨Pause and notice your dog.
✨Appreciate one thing about them.
✨Take a slow Wonder Breath together.
✨Soften your body and share a moment of connection.
Tiny ritual. Big difference.
