πŸ’™ Winter & Mental Health Awareness πŸ’™

Winter can affect more than just your physical healthβ€”it can also impact your mood and overall wellbeing. Shorter days, colder weather, and less sunlight can make it harder to stay motivated and feel like yourself.

If you've been experiencing any of the following, it may be time to seek support:
🩡 Persistent low mood
🩡 Anxiety or feeling overwhelmed
🩡 Changes in sleep patterns
🩡 Loss of interest in activities you usually enjoy

Remember, you don't have to face it alone.

Talking to your GP is an important first step. We can provide support, discuss treatment options, and connect you with the right mental health services if needed.
Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. If you're struggling, we're here to help.

β€’ Causes difficulty breathing

🧠 GP Myth Monday

❌ Myth:
"If I feel better after a few days, I can stop taking my antibiotics."

βœ… Fact:
Only stop taking antibiotics as directed by your doctor. Even if you're feeling better, the infection may not be completely gone.

Stopping antibiotics early can:
🦠 Allow the infection to return
πŸ’Š Contribute to antibiotic resistance
❀️ Mean the infection isn't fully treated

Always complete the full course of antibiotics unless your doctor advises you otherwise.

If you have any questions about your medication or you're unsure whether you should continue taking it, speak with your GPβ€”we're here to help.

🩺 GP Myth Monday 🩺

❌ Myth:
"Antibiotics cure colds and the flu."

βœ… Fact:
Most colds and influenza (the flu) are caused by viruses, not bacteria. Antibiotics only work against bacterial infections, so they won't help you recover from a viral illness.

Taking antibiotics when they're not needed can contribute to antibiotic resistance, making them less effective when you really do need them.

πŸ€’ If you're feeling unwell, your GP can:
βœ”οΈ Assess your symptoms
βœ”οΈ Recommend the best treatment to help you recover
βœ”οΈ Determine if further investigation or antibiotics are actually needed

πŸ’™ Not sure if it's just a cold or something more? Book an appointment with our friendly GPsβ€”we're here to help.
