We're now delivering OT services across Margaret River, Augusta and the surrounding areas.

OT's living locally, means less travel time and more time focused on what matters. Whether it's capacity building, assessments, assistive technology or minor home modifications, we're bringing the full range of OT support to the region.

Open to both NDIS and private participants.

If you or someone you know could benefit from OT support in the Margaret River or Augusta area, get in touch. We'd love to hear from you.

Getting organised for school, remembering the reader, finding the hat, packing the bag the night before, is a skill like any other. For some kids it clicks early. For others, it takes explicit teaching and the right system.

This is where occupational therapy can help build practical routines that fit real family mornings, not idealised ones. Visual checklists, consistent routines, and small environmental tweaks can take a lot of the daily friction out of getting to school.

These are small strategies, but they tend to compound. Less friction in the morning often means a calmer start to the school day for the whole family.

We're growing in Bunbury! πŸŽ‰

ChelleCare already supports many Participants and clients in Bunbury, travelling down from our Busselton base, and we're looking for an OT to anchor a deeper local presence there. Casual or contractor to start, with scope to grow as the caseload builds.

You'll get a ready caseload with warm referral pathways across the South West, full admin support, AHA support to extend your capacity, and mentoring from our Senior team, including Michelle, one of the region's few accredited OT Driver Assessors.

If you're an OT who wants more than just a job, who wants to help shape something, we'd love to hear from you.

A child who can't sit still isn't always being difficult. Sometimes their body is asking for input it isn't getting; movement, pressure, or a change in position can help a busy nervous system settle enough to focus.

Occupational therapists look at the whole picture: the classroom environment, the task, and how a child's body is responding to both. From there, strategies can be built that support attention without singling a child out.

For some families, this looks like OT-led strategies delivered together with our Allied Health Assistants, giving kids more regular opportunities to practise new skills between OT reviews. It's one option among several, tailored to what each child actually needs.

Handwriting trouble in the classroom is not always just about handwriting.

For a lot of primary aged kids, messy or slow handwriting can come back to things like pencil grip, hand strength, or how comfortable they are sitting at a desk for long periods. It's not always about trying harder. It's about whether the physical building blocks are there yet.

School-based OT can help identify what's underneath the struggle and build practical, everyday strategies that support kids in the classroom they're already in, not just in a therapy room.

If handwriting has been a source of frustration at home or in feedback from teachers, it's worth a conversation.

Confession from our Senior OT, Michelle: it's not always smooth sailing getting her to share the LEGO pieces β€” but she's slowly coming out of her shell! πŸ’πŸ˜‚

This flower-topped turtle was built together with her kids, and behind the fun is plenty of OT gold:

🧩 Fine motor skills β€” precision and bilateral coordination

πŸ”„ Turn-taking β€” patience for little (and big!) hands

🧠 Regulation β€” calm, focused, screen-free downtime

🀝 Teamwork β€” problem-solving as a family

A great reminder that "down time" activities double as skill-building β€” one reason we love recommending construction play for clients working on attention and motor planning.

Slow and steady wins the race. πŸ’πŸ’œ
