Capecare

Capecare Capecare is a not-for-profit aged care provider recognised as a leader in the South West. We employ more than 260 staff and are assisted by over 60 volunteers.

We provide in-home care, respite, residential, independent living and allied health care services. Capecare is the largest regional-based independent aged care provider in WA. The organisation has grown significantly over the past 64 years whilst still providing personal attentive care. Our Busselton base has expanded from a 32-bed aged care hostel to a facility encompassing 50 independent living

units, a Social Centre, Respite accommodation, Allied Health gym and residential care for up to 118 patients. Capecare now has a second fully integrated, purpose built aged care facility in Dunsborough, the first of its kind in the town. It features an 80-bed residential care facility and 21 independent living apartments and the headquarters of Dunsborough CWA branch. Both facilities are located in enviable beachside locations, and we also provide services in the community, delivering in-home care across the Capes. We continue to build on our history, experience and expertise to provide some of the most modern and forward-thinking aged care services available and strive to be the south west’s aged care provider and employer of choice. Capecare is a not-for-profit independent and incorporated entity and all funds generated remain within the organisation.

Capecare has received approval to add a further 18 residential aged care beds to our Busselton facility, helping to meet the growing need for quality aged care in our region.

The additional beds will be located in Ray Lodge, Capecare’s original facility overlooking the Busselton beachfront, and will bring our Busselton residential aged care capacity to 138 beds when fully operational in early July.

CEO Tim Nayton said the expansion reflects Capecare’s ongoing commitment to supporting older people to access care close to home.

“Access to residential aged care is a significant issue for many regional communities, and we know how important it is for older people to be able to remain close to their family, friends and local connections,” Tim said.

Passports ready!

Our Social Centre clients recently enjoyed armchair travel to Bhutan, hosted by Capecare support workers Kelzang Dawa, Sunita Pradhan and Tshering Dekar.

Clients were greeted with stamped passports and boarding passes to the Kingdom of Bhutan before enjoying a film showcasing Bhutan’s scenery, culture and attractions.

The centre was decorated with travel posters and regional information, while our staff shared cultural items including masks, fabrics, scarves, religious symbols, currency and authentic food.

It was a wonderful opportunity for clients to learn more about Bhutan - a country that many of our valued care staff call home.

Thank you to Kelzang, Sunita and Tshering for sharing your culture with such warmth and care.

Our Social Centre is all about connection, curiosity and meaningful activities, and new clients are always welcome.

This National Volunteer Week, we celebrate the wonderful people who give their time, kindness and companionship to Capecare.

On Friday, a number of our volunteers gathered for a special morning tea at Anniebrook Farm Cafe and Gifts in Carbanup, where CEO Tim Nayton thanked them for the very real difference they make in the lives of our residents and Community clients.

Volunteers bring warmth, connection and joy to Capecare every day. Whether it is through a friendly conversation, a shared activity, a helping hand or companionship, their presence makes a difference.

The morning included delicious scones and preserves, thanks to Dawn and the team at Anniebrook, as well as award presentations recognising many hours and years of dedicated service. Awards were presented by Chair Martha Ryan and board member Mostyn Hamdorf.

Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to all of our volunteers, including those recognised for:
15 years of service: Leah Jones
10 years of service: Ellen Stonehouse
5 years of service: Cheryl French, David McTaminey, Nola Sauzier and Malcolm Van Rensburg
1000 hours of service: Jan Assan, Robyn Bowering, Sharon Doohan, Bec Marsh and Nola Sauzier

You are all such an important part of our Capecare community.
