The ADM 2026 Scientific Program has been 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 by the Scientific Program Committee of the International Dermoscopy Society, an important recognition of the quality and international standard of the education being brought to Cairns.

The International Dermoscopy Society is a global organisation dedicated to advancing research and education in dermoscopy, with members and representation across more than 150 countries.

AI Specialist & Head of Department Dermatology | HEINE Optotechnik / German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ)

Dr. Sarah Haggenmüller is an internationally recognized AI specialist at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), specializing in AI-driven diagnostics for skin cancer, with a particular focus on malignant melanoma. She develops next-generation artificial intelligence technologies that translate cutting-edge research into clinically meaningful solutions, improving diagnostic accuracy, supporting healthcare professionals, and ultimately enhancing patient care. Her research combines artificial intelligence, medical imaging, and digital health with a strong emphasis on bridging innovation and clinical practice. A key focus of her work is the integration of intelligent software with novel imaging hardware to create the next generation of diagnostic technologies. In collaboration with HEINE Optotechnik, she is advancing the development of AI-powered imaging solutions that bring sophisticated diagnostic support closer to the point of care. Dr. Haggenmüller’s vision is to transform skin cancer diagnostics through seamless AI-powered solutions that are accessible, intuitive, and trusted by clinicians worldwide. She envisions an integrated handheld device that combines advanced imaging, real-time AI decision support, and user-centered design into a single platform, enabling expert-level diagnostics anytime and anywhere. By bridging artificial intelligence, innovative hardware, and clinical practice, she aims to make high-quality skin cancer diagnostics more precise, scalable, and globally accessible—improving early detection and patient outcomes worldwide.

Some people have a higher risk of developing melanoma. Risk factors include:

• Fair skin that burns or freckles easily, particularly with blonde or red hair and blue or green eyes
• Significant UV exposure, including prolonged exposure to the sun or artificial sources of UV such as tanning beds
• A history of blistering sunburns, particularly during childhood
• Many moles, large moles, or moles that look different from your other moles
• A family history of melanoma or unusual/atypical moles
• A previous melanoma or other skin cancer
• Certain rare genetic conditions, such as xeroderma pigmentosum
• Exposure to certain environmental factors, including radiation and some chemicals
• A weakened immune system due to disease or medications
• Increasing age, as melanoma becomes more common with age
• Being male - in Australia and New Zealand, melanoma occurs more commonly in men than women

A 3D molemapping assessment creates a baseline 3D image of your entire body, together with detailed images of individual lesions.

Today - a project that Tarlia Rajeswaran and our director Dr Vin have been working for almost a decade has come to fruition - we have launched 𝗗𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗘𝗫 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲.

𝗗𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗘𝘅 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 aims to be a 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀. We hope to make a difference to our rural and remote communities.

We are very privileged to be able to work with some of the top dermatologists, skin cancer doctors, researchers, innovators and melanoma advocates in the world - 𝗬𝗘𝗦 - 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗.
We will continue to strive towards achieving our goal.

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗡𝗤𝗛 𝗖𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲.

As we celebrate 10 years of serving the Far North Queensland community, we reflect on how far we’ve come. What began as a skin cancer clinic with 𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 has grown into a 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 in 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀, 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻- now caring for over 𝟳𝟳,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

Our investment in cutting-edge skin cancer diagnostic technologies has made a meaningful impact on our community, while demonstrating how we can help “close the gap” between urban and rural populations in access to high-quality skin cancer care.

Over the past decade, we’ve expanded our reach beyond our local community, contributing to both national and international research-while never losing sight of what matters most: 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.
