Caseload Midwifery promotes pregnancy and childbirth as a normal life event. We aim to provide you with continuity of carer, meaning you can know your midwife and develop a trusting professional relationship throughout your pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period. Our Caseload Midwifery Practice consists of midwives who work together to help you have a smooth and safe journey through pregnancy to parenthood with minimal medical intervention. When it comes time for birth your midwife will discuss when to come to hospital and provide care and support to you during labour and birth. If you and your baby are well, you can be discharged home 4-6 hours after birth. Your midwife will visit you and your baby at home following discharge from the hospital. Home visits are provided for up to two weeks following the birth of your baby. If you are interested in Caseload for your pregnancy you should be:
• In good health, without medical conditions
• Planning to have a natural birth with no unnecessary interventions
• Prepared to go home with your baby between 4-6 hours after birth, if you are both well
• Living in Parramatta, Holroyd or The Hills Council Areas

We encourage you to contact us early in your pregnancy as we would like to begin your pregnancy journey and accommodate for your care. Sometimes our service cannot offer every woman a position in caseload however you will be referred to and benefit from one of Westmead’s other wonderful continuity clinics including our outreach and continuity clinics, where antenatal and/or postnatal care is offered by a known midwife. One of our Midwives created a little cheat sheet for labour support. She shared it with one of the women in her care and she turned it into this amazing graphic. Thankyou!

We love feedback from women we have cared for in Caseload. 💜
This week is Birth Trauma Awareness Week. 1 in 3 women experience birth trauma. A protective factor can be continuity of carer who listens to all your concerns and supports all your choices
This amazing feedback is about Midwife Abby who supported Rebecca on her journey
Thanks Rebecca 💜
I was incredibly fortunate to receive care through the Caseload Midwifery Group and to have Abby as my midwife throughout my pregnancy and birth. Looking back, I couldn't have asked for a better person to share such an important journey with.

As this was my second pregnancy, I had previous experience with antenatal care, and I can honestly say the continuity of care and support I received from Abby made an incredible difference to my pregnancy and birth experience.

From our very first appointment, she made me feel completely comfortable, supported, and genuinely cared for. She was always incredibly responsive, took the time to answer every question, and had a wonderful way of calming my worries. Her warmth, compassion, and approachable nature made every appointment a positive experience, and I always felt listened to and reassured.

During the birth of our daughter, Isabel, she was nothing short of exceptional. Her calm and reassuring presence helped me stay focused and relaxed, and her communication throughout delivery was clear, supportive, and encouraging.

What meant just as much was that her support didn't end when we left the hospital. Knowing she was still there to guide and reassure us during those early days at home was invaluable and gave us so much confidence as we adjusted to life with our new baby.

We will always be grateful for the kindness, professionalism, and genuine care Abby showed our family. She played such an important role in one of the most significant moments of our lives, and we couldn't have asked for a better midwife.

Thank you for everything. You've made a lasting impact on our family.

Rebecca

This week the Dragonfly team celebrated NAIDOC week. The official theme for the 2026 National NAIDOC Week is "50 Years of Deadly".This theme marks five decades since the modern NAIDOC movement officially transitioned into a week-long national celebration. It honors the Elders, activists, artists, and communities who have championed and sustained Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, leadership, and survival.
The Dragonfly caseload team is dedicated to closing the gap for Aboriginal Mums and babies. The team consists of an Obstetrician, an Obstetric Registrar, 5 Midwives and 2 Aboriginal health workers.
Collaboratively they provide continuity of care for women ranging from low risk to those with many complexities.
We had many Mums visit us at Parramatta park yesterday and it was wonderful to see the relationship formed between the Midwives and AHW with the families in their care ❤️💛🖤

A message of thanks from Madison and baby Claudia. Thanks for this wonderful feedback ❤️

I cannot speak higher of caseload, this was my third baby with the program and every time I've felt so cared for and supported.
Abby was incredible from the get go, she got in and saw me really early on which was such a comfort for me. We lost a baby last year in April and so to be seen from so early on helped knowing she was there for every step in my anxiety and fears going into another pregnancy.

Abby reassured me when I felt like things weren't going how they should be or when I just got into my own head experiencing pregnancy after loss. She was quick to reply and support me no matter how I was going and backed me every step.

She was teamed with Ameliah who I had in my last pregnancy and they were both just the best. Abby was off when my labour began so to have Ameliah there for my birth was special especially in the absence of Abby who I had been alongside the whole pregnancy. Layla from their team also was with me for my whole birth and though I didn't know her well she was such a gift throughout the whole birth making me and my baby for cared for.

Little Claudia arrived safely and it was so special to finally have her in our arms.

Even though it was third time around I was still a bit nervous and unsure about things postpartum with Claudia and Abby walked me through it all and never made me feel silly or over the top. Just supported in every way.

Abby and Ameliah will always hold a very, very special place in my heart and I couldn't be more thankful for them, and Layla too. At every point, I felt seen, supported, safe and cared for and there's nothing more you can ask for in such a vulnerable time. Thank you to them and to Westmead for this program that provides intimate care in such a vulnerable time in women's and families lives.
