🔐 **“Will you tell someone what I say in counselling?”**

It’s a question we hear more often than you might think.

And it’s an important one.

Counselling needs to be a place where you can talk openly — without wondering whether every word is going to leave the room with you.

💜 Your conversations are treated with privacy and respect.

💜 Parents don't automatically receive a play-by-play of their child's session.

💜 You don't need to protect your counsellor from the messy, awkward or uncomfortable stuff.

💜 You’re allowed to take your time before you're ready to talk about something.

There **are limits to confidentiality**, particularly where there are serious concerns about safety, risk of harm, or where disclosure is required by law — and we explain these boundaries clearly.

Because privacy isn't about keeping secrets.

**It's about creating enough safety for honesty.**

And without safety, it's very difficult to build trust.

Without trust, it's very difficult to have the conversations that matter.

At UnifiedLife, we take that responsibility seriously.

Your story is yours.

**Our privilege is being trusted enough to hear it.** 💜

🧩 Hard doesn’t mean impossible. Sometimes it just means we haven’t found the right sequence yet.

Watching this talented young person take on a Rubik’s Cube and complete it in just over a minute was seriously impressive.

But from a counselling perspective, there’s something even better in it.

Life can feel a lot like a Rubik’s Cube sometimes. You make one move and something else seems to get messier. You get frustrated. You question whether you’re getting anywhere. You might even feel like giving up.

But progress often comes from staying with the problem, trying a different approach, learning from what didn’t work and trusting that each small move is getting you closer.

That’s what we love helping people discover at UnifiedLife.

Not that hard things suddenly become easy, but that with patience, persistence, support and the right strategies, we can become better equipped to work through them.

And when it finally clicks into place?

That feeling of “I did it” is worth every frustrating turn. 💪🧩

**The Rules Nobody Wrote Down**

Some family rules are obvious.

Put your shoes away.
Don’t eat on the couch.
Wet towels do not belong on the floor.

But some rules are invisible.

Don’t upset Mum.
Don’t talk about Dad’s house.
Be the easy child.
Don’t make things awkward.

In this episode, Amy explores loyalty conflict, split families, blended families, and the behaviours children may show when they are trying to belong in more than one emotional world.

A gentle reminder that children should never have to earn belonging by choosing who to love.

✨ **Sometimes the rain doesn’t ruin the adventure… it makes it.** 🌧️

Recently we had the opportunity to experience **Astra Lumina at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary** with one of our clients — and Mother Nature decided to add her own special effects. 😂

Rain falling through the lights.
Music through the rainforest.
Colours reflecting off the wet pathways.

It was absolutely **enchanting.** ✨🌿

And THIS is something we love about support work.

It isn’t always about appointments, routines or ticking off goals.

Sometimes growth happens while you're out **living.**

Trying something new.
Exploring somewhere different.
Building confidence in the community.
Sharing an experience.
Creating memories.

And learning that when things don't go *quite* according to plan...

**you don't necessarily have to turn around.**

Sometimes you put on the raincoat, keep walking and discover that the unexpected version was even better. 💜

A very wet, very magical and very memorable UnifiedLife adventure. 🌧️✨

**Life doesn't have to be perfect to be pretty bloody amazing.**

She leads with her heart. Always. ❤️

This photo of Amy was taken in a room full of thousands of people at a Tony Robbins event in 2023.

But look closely at where her hand is.

Right over her heart.

And honestly… that pretty much sums up the way Amy approaches her work.

She doesn't just do counselling.

She brings her whole heart to it.

She listens beyond the words.
She feels the energy in the room.
She notices what isn't being said.
She connects before she tries to create change.

Because people don't need another professional sitting across from them simply telling them what they should do.

They need someone who genuinely cares about what happens next.

Someone who believes in them when they're struggling to believe in themselves.

Someone who brings energy, passion, intuition and a whole lot of heart into the room.

Amy is constantly learning, growing and challenging herself too—because if we're asking our clients to grow, we should be willing to do the same.

Qualifications give you knowledge.
Experience gives you wisdom.
But heart?

That's the part you can't teach.

And Amy leads with hers. Every single time. ❤️

Read that again.

At the beginning of change, you have to create the consistency.

You show up when you don't feel like it.

You practise the skill when it still feels awkward.

You hold the boundary even when giving in would be easier.

You take the small step even when it feels like it's making absolutely no difference.

And for a while?

It can feel like bloody hard work.

But keep going.

Because those small, repeated actions start producing something incredibly powerful:

MOMENTUM.

You notice a difference.

Something that used to feel impossible becomes slightly easier.

You have a win.

Then another.

Your confidence grows.

And THIS is where the whole thing flips.

Suddenly, you're not fighting quite so hard to stay consistent…

because the momentum you've built is helping carry you forward.

That’s the cycle we want to create at UnifiedLife.

Whether we're working on independence, emotional regulation, parenting, confidence, relationships, social skills or everyday life…

We don't expect massive change overnight.

We help people start moving.

Because:

Consistency → creates momentum.
Momentum → makes consistency easier.
Consistency → creates MORE momentum.

And eventually?

The thing that once felt incredibly hard starts becoming part of who you are.

So don't underestimate that tiny thing you're doing repeatedly.

You aren't just building a habit.

You're building momentum. 🔥

And momentum can change everything.

The biggest barrier to counselling isn't cost.

It isn't time.

It isn't finding the right counsellor.

For many people...

It's the stigma.

Somewhere along the way, we've been taught that asking for help means we've failed.

That counselling is only for people in crisis.

That we should "just get on with it."

But here's the truth...

We happily see a personal trainer to strengthen our bodies.

We see a financial adviser to improve our finances.

We see a mechanic before our car breaks down completely.

So why do we wait until life feels unbearable before looking after our mental wellbeing?

Counselling isn't a sign that something is wrong with you.

It's a sign that you're choosing to invest in yourself.

You don't have to be falling apart to benefit from counselling.

You might simply want to:
✨ Understand yourself better.
✨ Improve your relationships.
✨ Become a more confident parent.
✨ Learn healthier ways to cope with stress.
✨ Work through life's challenges with someone in your corner.

Seeking support isn't weakness.

It's self-awareness.

And one of the bravest things you can say is...

"I don't have to do this alone."

Let's stop seeing counselling as a last resort...

And start seeing it as one of the healthiest investments we can make in ourselves.

Because strong people ask for help too. 💜

💭 Parenting Shift #005

One of the biggest myths in parenting is that our job is to make life easier for our children.

It isn't.

Our job is to help them become capable enough to face life's challenges.

Every problem we solve for them is one less opportunity for them to develop confidence, resilience and belief in themselves.

That doesn't mean leaving them to struggle alone.

It means walking beside them instead of walking in front of them.

Supporting instead of rescuing.

Guiding instead of fixing.

Because confidence isn't built by having someone remove every obstacle.

It's built by looking back and realising...

"I got through that."

As parents, we're not raising children who need us forever.

We're raising adults who won't.

💜 Parenting Shift #005

One small shift.
One stronger connection.
One calmer family.

Does your teen WANT friends… but find friendships really hard?

Maybe she overthinks messages.

Feels like the third wheel.

Doesn’t know how to join in.

Gets hurt when friendship groups suddenly change.

Struggles to know what to say when there’s conflict.

Or comes home saying…

“I just don’t get girls.” 😩

She’s definitely not the only one.

Our Online Teen Girls Friendship Group is a little different from a traditional “social skills group.”

We're not sitting online for an hour teaching teenagers how they're supposed to socialise. 😴

Instead, we're giving girls a safe, relaxed space to figure out the messy world of friendships together.

💬 “What would you do if…?”
📱 “Was that text actually rude?”
😬 “How do I join a conversation without it being awkward?”
💔 “What do I do when I'm being left out?”
🫣 “How do I tell someone something without starting World War III?”

We talk. We laugh. We problem-solve. We learn from each other.

And without it feeling like a lesson, the girls are building confidence, communication, boundaries, perspective-taking, conflict resolution and real-world social skills.

Amy is there to facilitate, support and guide the conversation, but the magic is also in girls discovering:

“Wait… other girls struggle with this too?”

No pressure to be outgoing.

No expectation to share personal things before they're comfortable.

And definitely no PowerPoint titled HOW TO MAKE FRIENDS. 😂

Just a small group (max. 6) of teen girls learning how to navigate friendships together.

💜 Online Teen Girls Friendship Group

Because sometimes you don't need someone to tell you how friendships work...
You need somewhere safe to practise them.
