Q. What do you think Bad Posture gives us?
A. Sagging, puffiness, double chin and asymmetry in the face.
👉Poor posture directly alters the shape of your face by pulling on the muscles and connective tissues (fascia) of the neck and jaw.
👉Slouching or staring down at a screen strains these muscles, restricts blood circulation, and causes the face to sag, resulting in a less detined jawline, fluid build up, and premature aging .
Specific ways poor posture reshapes your face include:
✔️Weakened Jawline & Double Chin: "Tech neck" is the position of having your head thrust forward-shortens the muscles under your chin. This decreases muscular support in the lower face, contributing to jowls and a double chin.
✔️ Facial Puffiness:
The main pathways for lymphatic drainage pass through the neck. When your spine is misaligned or your neck muscles are excessively tight, this drainage is obstructed, trapping fluid in the face and causing chronic swelling.
✔️ Dull Complexion:
- Compressed neck fascia and poor spinal alignment restrict blood vessels.
- This reduces the amount of oxygen and fresh blood reaching facial tissues, and moving toxins out of the face. It’s leaving the skin looking dull and tired.
✔️ Jaw Clenching & Tension Lines: - Forward head posture creates muscular tightness that travels up into the TMJ (temporomandibular joint).
- This leads to teeth grinding or chronic jaw clenching, which reshapes the lower face (making it look heavier). It’s also deepens the lines around the mouth.
