**Prepare to Listen**
Before we understand words, we understand rhythm.
A baby resting against its mother’s chest is surrounded by breath, heartbeat, warmth and gentle movement. These steady rhythms offer comfort, connection and a felt sense of safety.
We don’t outgrow our response to rhythm.
The repeating sound of the breath can soften competing noise and give our attention somewhere simple to rest. We don’t need to control the breath, deepen it or make it perform.
We can simply listen.
**Listen deeply to your body—this is interoception.**
💧 **Begin by preparing the senses**
The Embodied I Ching movement **Ear Massage and Ear Press** belongs to **Water in the Third Eye Chakra**.
Water softens inner resistance.
The Third Eye refines perception.
Together, they prepare us to notice.
1. Gently massage the outer ears.
2. Softly press or cover the ears.
3. Pause and notice the quieter inner sound.
4. Release your hands and notice the space around you.
🌬️ **Then listen to your breath**
This practice is supported by **Wind in the Throat Chakra**.
Wind invites gentle movement.
The Throat invites listening.
Together, they create a usable pause.
1. Settle comfortably.
2. Soften your jaw and shoulders.
3. Let your breath move naturally.
4. Listen to each inhale and exhale.
5. Continue for one to three minutes—or as long as feels supportive.
There is nothing to achieve.
If listening inward feels uncomfortable today, choose another steady sound: rainfall, waves, rustling leaves or the hum of a fan.
**Micro-reflection:**
What changes when I listen deeply to my body? How am I feeling in this moment?
First prepare the senses.
Then listen without forcing.
