🌿🐞 Minibeast Fun & Learning! 🐜🦋
This week has been full of excitement as the children explored the fascinating world of minibeasts! Through hands-on matching activities, they worked together to connect different creatures with their names and features, building both knowledge and teamwork skills.
We also had some great discussions describing where minibeasts live, using lots of positional language to explain their locations. From under rocks to on leaves, there was plenty to discover! 🌱
The children loved talking about the different features of each minibeast, noticing similarities and differences—like how some have wings, some have many legs, and others have none at all. 🐛
It was wonderful to see their curiosity, confidence, and communication skills grow as they learned while having fun together! 💚

🌟 Kindergarten Concepts Group Activity 🚗✂️🟦
This week our learners had a wonderful time engaging in a hands-on concepts activity focused on cutting, sticking, and matching vehicles with shapes! 🎨
As they worked, we explored and strengthened a range of important skills:
✨ Executive Function Skills
Children practised organising their workspace, keeping track of their materials on the table, and following multi-step instructions to complete their task.
✂️ Fine Motor Development
Using scissors to carefully cut out shapes and glue sticks to paste them onto the correct vehicles helped develop hand strength and coordination.
🟡 Early Concepts: Shapes & Colours
Learners used descriptive language to talk about the shapes and colours on each vehicle, building their understanding and vocabulary.
💬 Communication & Language
We encouraged children to follow instructions, share ideas, and make comments about their work, supporting both expressive and receptive language skills.
💡 It was fantastic to see so much concentration, creativity, and collaboration as everyone worked towards completing their matching activity!
👏 Well done to our amazing learners for their effort and enthusiasm today!
We have limited places available in this program for term 3 - reach out today if this could benefit your child.

✨ Building Emotional Smarts, One Word at a Time ✨

In our small group sessions this week, our kiddos are exploring synonyms for emotions—and it’s making a big difference! 💬

By learning that “mad” can also mean frustrated, annoyed, or upset, children are expanding their emotional vocabulary and gaining a deeper understanding of their feelings. 💡

Our group activities help children:
✅ Recognise and label their emotions more accurately
✅ Express themselves with greater confidence
✅ Develop important emotional regulation skills

When children have the words to describe how they feel, they’re better equipped to manage those feelings in positive ways. ❤️
We love seeing their confidence grow as they connect words to emotions and learn that every feeling has a voice. 🌈

🌟 Learning in Action 🌟
Today in clinic we practised language, thinking, and persistence. We practised describing images to each other and explored 3D shapes, building vocabulary, listening skills, and confidence through shared conversation.

When faced with challenges, this young learner showed determination and focus—and said something powerful:
✨ “There is no limit.” ✨

A beautiful reminder that learning isn’t about getting it perfect—it’s about trying, thinking, and not giving up. Persistence builds confidence, and confidence fuels learning. 💛

We had SO much fun in our school holiday groups! From Lego building to art, fruit exploration, science, and special‑interest sessions like Pokémon and Minecraft — the kids were absolutely thriving. It was amazing watching them connect with peers, build confidence, and kick goals together.

Our July groups are just around the corner, and we’ve got some exciting new sessions coming to Williamstown. Keep an eye out!

Groups are open to both current and new clients. New families just need to book an initial session so we can get to know you and make sure the group is the right fit.

Our Vibrant Vocabulary term program helps young learners grow their language skills through fun, hands on weekly themes. Each session invites children to play, talk, describe and discover—building not just words, but confidence, curiosity and connection.
Each week we dive into a new engaging topic such as animals, food, feelings, transport, weather, community helpers and more. Through playful activities, children will:
✔️ Learn and practise new describing words (colour, size, texture, speed, emotion)
✔️ Build topic specific vocabulary in meaningful, interactive ways
✔️ Follow simple instructions during games, crafts and sensory activities
✔️ Practise turn taking, sharing materials and working with peers
✔️ Explore new concepts in a safe, low pressure environment
✔️ Practise asking questions, expressing ideas and using new words in conversation
For many children, group learning can feel overwhelming. New routines, expectations and communication demands can make participation tricky.
In our small, therapy focused group, we gently support children to:
• Expand expressive and descriptive language
• Increase confidence using new words in real interactions
• Strengthen turn taking, waiting and cooperative play
• Build flexibility when plans change or challenges arise
• Feel more comfortable communicating in group settings
This group may be a great fit if your child:
– Struggles to find the right words to describe things
– Finds group play or conversation challenging
– Becomes stressed when routines change or tasks feel difficult
Our Vibrant Vocabulary group offers a supportive, structured environment where children can practise communication skills in a fun, motivating context.
