The concept of New Body Physiotherapy has resulted from years of clinical experience and continues to be refined with on-going post-graduate studies. NBPPM successfully treats;
• Lower Back, Pelvic and lower limb dysfunction
• Chronic postural pain
• Tension headaches/migraines
• Injury from sport and overuse
• Poor body awareness and movement patterns
• Poor foot mechanics affecting sport and running performance

consultations and treatments entail the following methods of care:
• Spinal and Musculoskeletal physiotherapy: used to manage injuries and chronic pain conditions. NBPPM’s unique principle is that a positive treatment outcome is often met within the first 3 treatments thanks to a clear diagnosis of your injury and the discovery of the prime contributing factor of your condition. NBPPM specialises in myofascial treatment and three dimensional manual therapy techniques applied to all the joints in the human body from the neck to the feet.
• Sports physiotherapy: sports injuries often come about from trauma or biomechanical imbalances. This happens in most athletes from recreational to professional. NBPPM successfully treats sports injuries by identifying the biomechanical component that caused your injury and addressing it with evidence based management. That can range from poor footwear, poor technique (golf swing, forehand/backhand), poor equipment setup (faulty bike setup).
• Myofascial therapy and deep tissue massage: A form of massage that accesses the thin layering of muscles known as fascia and the application of directional pressure to muscle fibres to eliminate adhesions and enhance movement.
• Acupuncture: Application and manipulation of a very thin needles into various points ("acupoints") in the body to stimulate nerve impulses, increase blood flow and promote the release of feel good hormones. It is used to successfully treat many musculoskeletal dysfunctions.
• Postural and movement analysis for performance enhancement: Static and dynamic analysis of the various postural chains that exist in the human body using strategic reference points and reliable assessment tools that will make way to a customised sports specific management and movement re-patterning plan for maximum performance outcome.
• Corrective and functional taping: Various adhesive materials applied to any joint in the body to promote postural awareness and joint stability.
• Orthotic therapy (affiliated with the Foot Alignment Clinic): Unique postural re-alignment system using the latest evidence based biomechanical principals to correct and align your feet while you stand, giving you an Orthotic that is extremely comfortable and accurate. For more info, please refer to www.footalignmentclinic.com.au
• Ridgway Method: This method is fundamentally about finding the treatment intervention that will achieve a positive outcome for your injury or musculoskeletal complaint. In this screening process, the physiotherapist will asses your nerves, joints, muscles in order to identify the prime contributing factor of your complaint and offer tangible and effective results for the vast majority of musculoskeletal conditions and postural deviations. This method achieves 90% effective results in most cases. Health fund rebates apply for all NBPPM services

Every appointment, you're running a quiet assessment of your own.

Is it safe to tell this person the truth? Will they believe me if I say it's worse? Should I downplay it so I don’t seem difficult?

Amie Rule calls this the silent trust audit, the constant calculation people living with chronic pain make about how much of their real experience to reveal.

Most clinicians never know it's happening. The ones who do practise differently.

This clip is worth two minutes of your day.

Have you ever held back from telling a clinician the full story? What made it feel unsafe?

09/07/2026

I'm a hands-on physio. I always have been, and I'm not apologising for it.

Hands-on treatment builds trust. It calms a nervous system that's been on high alert for years. It shows someone their body can feel different.

But here's the distinction I spoke about at The Chronic Pain Method's Clinical Roundtable: hands-on works best as a bridge, something that carries you toward confidence in your own body, not a crutch you're left leaning on forever.

Same hands. Different destination.

That's the difference between treatment that keeps you coming back and treatment that moves you forward.

Has hands-on treatment been part of your journey? What did it do for you?

There are sentences that stay with you.

If you've lived with chronic pain, you've probably collected a few, said by professionals who meant well, in appointments that left you feeling smaller than when you walked in.

In this clip, patient advocate Amie Rule names the phrases that shut people down and what could be said instead.

We're posting it for a reason: we want to be held to it. If you ever hear one of these in our clinic, tell us.

What's one thing a health professional said that you've never forgotten, good or bad?

06/07/2026

A flare isn't just a spike in pain.

It's the cancelled plans. The guilt. The fear that you've gone backwards. The exhaustion of explaining, again, why today is different from last Tuesday.

Amie Rule has lived with chronic pain for over two decades, and in this clip from The Chronic Pain Method's Clinical Roundtable, she describes what a flare actually feels like from the inside, the part that never makes it into a clinical note.

We're sharing it because this is the understanding we want every person who walks through our doors to feel met with.

If you've lived with pain for a long time, you've probably learned to brace before an appointment.

To rehearse your story so it sounds credible. To downplay the hard parts so you don't seem difficult. To prepare for the possibility that this professional, like others before, might not really hear you.

You shouldn't have to do that.

Before any assessment, any treatment plan, any exercise, you deserve something simpler: to be believed.

That's not a soft extra. It's the foundation everything else is built on. The best plan in the world won't work if you don't feel safe enough to say what's really going on, when it's worse, when it's not working, when life has made everything harder this week.

So that's where we start. Not with what's wrong with you, but with what's true for you.

The strategies come next. They land better that way.
What helps you feel comfortable telling a health professional the full story?

Chronic pain is rarely just physical.

It flows into everything. Your sleep. Your work. Your finances. Your relationships. The plans you stop making because you can't predict how you'll feel.

And yet most healthcare appointments are built as if pain lives only in the body part being treated.

We can't fix everything pain touches, that wouldn't be honest, and you've probably heard enough overpromising. But we can do something that's surprisingly rare: acknowledge it.

Because when your clinician understands that a flare also means a missed shift, a cancelled weekend, a hard conversation at home, the whole plan changes. Pacing gets realistic. Goals get yours, not textbook ones. And you stop having to pretend you're only here about your shoulder.

You are a whole person. Your care should treat you like one.

What's one part of your life pain has affected that no clinician has ever asked about?

People ask me this all the time: "Are you a hands-on physio or one of those exercise-only ones?"

I understand the question. If you've lived with pain for a while, you've probably met both. The physio whose hands felt like magic, until the relief stopped lasting. And the one who handed you a sheet of exercises and seemed to disappear from the process entirely.

Here's what 25 years has taught me: it was never really about choosing a side.

Hands-on treatment has a place. So does movement. But neither one on its own is the thing that changes the course of chronic pain.

What changes it is whether you and your clinician genuinely understand what's happening, together. When that understanding is there, everything we do, hands-on work included, is building your confidence in your own body.

So when people ask me now, my answer is: I'm a hands-on physio. And my hands are there to move you forward.

Have you been caught between "magic hands" and "here's your exercise sheet"? You're not alone, tell us about it.

01/06/2026

If you live with chronic pain, you've probably noticed something: most healthcare doesn't have time built into it for clinicians to think.

Appointments back-to-back. Quick assessment, quick plan, move on. And if your case is complex, if you've already tried the obvious things and they haven't worked, that pace doesn't serve you.

At New Body, we do things a bit differently.

Our physios meet with other clinicians regularly to discuss the cases that need more than one perspective. A physio thinking out loud with a psychologist sees something a physio alone can't. A complex case examined by two trained minds is more likely to find the thing that's been missed.

It's not flashy. It rarely gets advertised. But it's one of the most important things that happens behind the scenes here and it's why the patients we see with chronic pain tend to make progress where they haven't before.

You deserve a physio who thinks carefully about your case. Not just in the appointment but in the time between them too.

The best physios aren't the ones who think they have all the answers. They're the ones who know when to ask.

At New Body, our physios don't carry complex cases alone. They sit down with other clinicians — including psychologists — to think through the patients who aren't responding the way the textbook says they should.

Because the patient in front of us deserves more than one person's thinking.

That's how we work here. 💙

A pain flare is not your body failing you.
It is your body communicating about your current capacity, your nervous system, your stress load, the cumulative weight of everything you're carrying right now.

The instinct, understandably, is to treat it as a setback. To push harder or shut down completely. Both responses make sense. And both can keep you stuck in a cycle that's exhausting to live in.

At New Body Physiotherapy, we work with a different framework. One that treats a flare as information rather than crisis. One that slows things down enough to ask: what is your body actually telling us right now, and what does it need?

That shift, from fighting your body to listening to it, doesn't make the hard days disappear. But it changes how you move through them. And over time, it changes what's possible.

If you've been in the push-through-shut-down cycle for longer than you'd like, we'd welcome the conversation.
