Would your child struggle if their screen was taken away?

Screens can provide immediate relief from boredom, frustration or distress, but relying on them as a primary coping tool can create a difficult cycle, sometimes contributing to dependence and explosive behaviour when the device is unavailable.

Our latest article explores the screen–dopamine connection, why these reactions occur, and how parents can support healthier technology habits.

Learn how the screen–dopamine connection can contribute to technology dependence and explosive behaviour in children and adolescents, and what parents can do.

💛 How can counselling support a child after a challenging experience?

Children do not always have the words to explain what has happened or how they feel. Instead, distress may be expressed through changes in behaviour, sleep, emotions, relationships, school participation or physical complaints.

Our latest article explores:

✨ Signs that a child may need additional support
✨ What their behaviour might be communicating
✨ How child-centred counselling can help
✨ What counselling may look like for a child
✨ Ways parents and caregivers can support recovery

Children do not need to be in crisis before families seek support. Counselling can provide a safe and predictable space where children feel understood, strengthen their coping skills and begin to move forward at their own pace.

Could an IQ test help us better understand your child?

Does your child seem highly capable in some areas but find other types of learning unexpectedly difficult? Perhaps they need more repetition, additional time or a different approach to demonstrate what they know.

A cognitive assessment (often called an IQ test) can help identify how your child:

✨ Understands and reasons with information
✨ Solves new problems
✨ Uses their working memory
✨ Processes information
✨ Learns most effectively

It provides much more than a single IQ score. By identifying your child’s unique pattern of strengths and support needs, a cognitive assessment can inform practical recommendations for home, school and future learning.

Read our latest article to learn what cognitive assessments involve and whether one may be helpful for your child: https://thedaisyclinic.com.au/what-is-a-cognitive-assessment-iq-test/

Cognitive assessment appointments are currently available at The Daisy Clinic. Contact our team to discuss the most appropriate assessment pathway for your child.
