Ten years ago this month, I finished up with ADHC / Home Care and went out on my own. From a desk in the boys' toy room at home, Movementum began.
I had no idea how much the industry was about to change. NDIS hadn't rolled out yet.
What I remember most from those early days isn't the fear — it's the freedom to experiment. Try something. Get feedback. Adapt. Try again. No layers to move through, no barriers to trialling a better way of doing something.
Ten years on, the language has changed, the sector has changed, the tools have changed. What hasn't moved an inch is why I started — supporting individuals, support workers and care providers in the pursuit of great quality, injury-free care. That every person receiving and providing support deserves to experience safe, dignified, quality care as their standard. That's been the driving purpose behind Movementum from day one, and it's the same purpose behind everything we're building next.
I've written the full reflection — on what's changed, what's stayed exactly the same, and what's ahead — in this week's article.
