Friday check-in πŸ’œ

If you gave yourself permission to rest this week β€” what would you actually do differently?

Would you cancel the plan you dread? πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ
Sleep in on Saturday without the guilt? 😴
Say no to the thing you'd normally say yes to on autopilot? 🚫

Drop it in the comments β€” I'd love to know πŸ‘‡

Rest isn't a reward for finishing everything. It's part of how your body works πŸ’œ

While you sleep β€” and while you actually switch off during the day β€” your nervous system resets, cortisol comes down, tissue repairs, and your brain processes the day's memories and emotions. Skip that consistently and it's not a willpower problem, it's a physiology problem.

If you're constantly tired no matter how much sleep you get, that's worth a proper conversation, not just "try to rest more."

A quick note πŸ’œ

I'm taking a week of leave from Monday 13/07/26 to Friday 17/07/26.

Practising what I preach β€” rest isn't optional, even for the person who keeps telling you that.

For anything urgent during that time, please contact my wonderful colleagues at Ochre Wollongong on 02 4276 7000.

Routine appointments and messages will be picked up when I'm back on Monday 20/07.

Thanks for your patience β€” see you soon!

Friday check-in πŸ’œ

As we head into the weekend, I just want to say something simple ☺️

Healthcare should never make you feel small.

You should never have to minimise your symptoms, explain away your identity, or leave a consultation feeling more confused than when you walked in.

If that's been your experience β€” I am truly sorry. You deserved better.

My practice exists because I believe whole-heartedly that everyone deserves care that sees them β€” all of them.

If you're looking for a GP who'll walk alongside you (not just treat your symptoms), I'd love to meet you. πŸ“… Book online via HotDoc β€” link in bio.

Autism in adults β€” particularly in women β€” is so often missed. πŸ’œ

Not because it isn't there.

But because many people spend a lifetime becoming experts at masking.
They've learnt to 'fit in'.
To watch others carefully and mirror what they see.
To push through sensory overwhelm.
To be the 'quiet, sensitive one'.
And it is exhausting.

If you've always felt like you experience the world a little differently β€” like you're working harder than everyone else just to do the things that seem effortless for others β€” you deserve the chance to explore what might be going on.

Understanding yourself is never a bad thing. 🌿

You deserve a GP who celebrates exactly who you are. 🌈

I provide gender-affirming care for people of all ages and identities β€” and it is genuinely one of the most meaningful parts of my work.

Whether you're:
β†’ Exploring your gender identity for the first time
β†’ Ready to start hormone therapy
β†’ Looking for ongoing care that truly sees you
β†’ Just needing a GP who won't make you feel like you have to explain yourself

You are welcome here. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

No questions that make you feel like a curiosity.
No judgement.
Just care.

Friday check-in πŸ’œ

How clued up were you about perimenopause before you started experiencing it? πŸ€”

I ask because so many of my patients (also: me πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ) tell me they had no idea what was happening to their body β€” and felt like they were going a little bit mad before someone finally connected the dots.

Drop a comment: what's one thing you WISH someone had told you about this stage of life? Let's fill this thread with the information we all deserved sooner πŸ’œ

Something I hear in my consulting room all the time πŸ‘‡

"I feel like I'm falling apart β€” but nothing shows up on my tests."

If that's you, can I let you in on something?

Perimenopause doesn't announce itself with a memo. It creeps in quietly β€” through broken sleep, a new kind of anxiety, joint aches, brain fog, or just a feeling that your body isn't your own anymore.

And here's what most people aren't told:

The hormonal shift isn't a straight decline. Oestrogen fluctuates β€” sometimes surging, sometimes plummeting β€” before it eventually settles. That's what makes the symptoms feel so unpredictable. So disorienting.

It is not in your head.
It is hormonal.
And it is absolutely treatable.

Swipe through to understand what's actually happening β€” and know that you don't have to navigate it alone πŸ’œ

If you'd like to chat about where you're at, I'd love to see you.

Can we normalise talking about perimenopause? πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

Because too many people are suffering in silence β€” not realising that the brain fog, the anxiety, the terrible sleep, the mood swings, the joint pain... might all be connected.
Perimenopause can start in your early 40s (sometimes even late 30s) β€” years before your periods actually stop.
Signs you might be in perimenopause:
β†’ Sleep that's suddenly terrible for no obvious reason
β†’ Anxiety that feels new or different to what you've experienced before
β†’ Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
β†’ Irregular or heavier periods
β†’ Hot flushes (but not always!)
β†’ Low libido or vaginal discomfort

You don't have to just push through. There is support, and there are options.
Let's talk. πŸ’œ
